Has anyone noticed that the CU2 doesn't seem to ping when using Caltex Vortex 98 but still does when using Shell V Power .
V Power also leaves the highest carbon deposits at the exaust out of all the 98 RON fuels .

I've defected from Shell V-power to BP ultimate.
Less carbon deposits and better mileage

No so much interested in the carbon deposits (although V Power is dirty), more about the lack of any pinging noticed when using Vortex 98 over V Power

Suburu upper engine cleaner will remove any carbon anyways.

correct me if im wrong....

but v power is a mixture of fuel with ethanol (or other octane booster) to give it a slightly higher rating. But in the real world this isnt entirely relevant.

Yeah I thought the octane rating is too high and can cause issues.

I think it was back when they had V-Power racing that it was 100RON with ethanol mixed in. I believe the current V-Power is just plain fuel with 98RON rating.

Hmm, I was bored so i did a bit of an experiment...

Ive been running BP ultimate since I have had the car. I was testing 40L of ultimate compared with 40 L of V-power....

For me, mileage wise was very close, however bp did end up traveling more(cant determine if its fuel, or just non-constant driving style)

However, V-power did feel less slugish in my car, but made driving more jerky etc, Compared to Ultimate which for me, felt smoother.

Looks like I'll be sticking with ultimate, just because I'm biased... LOl:cool:
