its the ek9 vin plate that matters :D

anyone can get a Vin Plate and rivet it on. if anything the chassis number is what determines if its a genuine EK9

Hi ya'll, thanks for all the reply. the car had a b16b previously but it blew. so the owner put in a b18c7. maybe it was cheaper. But what i've plan to do is to drive it first, get use to the car and probably put in a b16b in the future. Well, I am very glad to be in this forum. Would need all your advice in the up and coming days or years.

but the b18c7 is better in just about every way
riruiz_88
15-12-2009, 10:18 AM
i wouldnt say so. different gearbox ratios and different compression ratios etc...
SiReal
15-12-2009, 10:19 AM
Well a b16b is a destroked b18c
just keep the b18c. even mr. spoon says when the b16bs are due for rebuilds, to get the b18c oem 'stroker' kit. to push it to 1.8L.
who cares if its got a "7" at the end. its still hand ported, has type R running gear and is quick as hell for a 1.8L NA.
I bet if he went and got a b16b, he'd be disappointed.
dont forget that the b18c7 has 4.7 final drive.. whereas the b16b ek9 has the same gearbox as a EK4 SiR, which is 4.4 (according to BMI hot version vtec special on youtube)

Doesnt matter what engine is better.. this a welcome thread to a new ozhonda member, keep it clean ffs.

you're a f0ckign noob, AUDM B18C7 has 4.7 FD LSD GB opposed to the EK9/B16B which is 4.4
And There is nothing wrong with the AUDM B18C7, there are too many things before limiting it in the AUDM DC2R including the Headers, exhaust.
the B18C7 will still munch the B16B with same bolt ons.

If your lucky it might have a B18c7 bottom end with CTR head, what numbers does it have on it?
Why did the previous owner change it to a 1.8L?
I know the obvious answer is he wanted the extra 200cc, and I can understand why.

nice car mate.
dunno wtf people on about saying its not a ek9 no more. from the day its made and stamped with that chassis code to the day it will be scrap metal, its a ek9

The previous owner blew the B16B. Think he said that on page 1...anyway, i'll prefer to have B18C in it. B16B = overrated... :P

Hi everyone!
Jords -I'm not too suire what number is stamped on it. I'll check when i finish work.
Hisoka - you are right, as long it has got the ek9 stamped, it does not matter to me whther it has got the b16b or b18c7. As long it is a ek9, i'm very much happy. Cause these little beauties are hard to come by.
Cymax - previous owner serviced at Seeker, the b16b blew and that's why he had fiited with the b18c7.Yeh!asked seeker before purchasing the car though.
So far so good, can't wait to finish work and take it for a drive agian. Its very addictive i say.

b16b is over rated, i would know i have one (though it is restricted at the moment)
in class racing by cc (ie 1.6L) i think the b16b would great hands down, but adding 200cc's to a car thats already lights only gonna make it better
Very nice car man, very rare in australia, take good care of it

B16B may be JDM, but it's no match. It hasn't killed the EK9, it's made it way better!

thanks for the feedback guys. question to ask? When i drive , i find that there is too much of fuel and it is not burning up. after driving for quite awhile and when it comes to traffic, i would need to accellerate even more to move the car. i feel that the fuel or air is not even. could it be the ECU? Do you think i need tuning? Please advise. Thank you.

What ECU are you running now? Are you running any piggy back or power FC at the moment? If it's stock, you might want look into your throttle body. It might be dirty. I just cleaned mine yesterday. The car is running great.

nah from the looks of it, its a genuine EK9 but with ek1 vins, notice the vin tag at the firewall.. jdm hondas usually dont have them.. best to compare the subframes to a standard ek

maybe the vin tag on firewall is swapped.
if it was swapped, i still think its ek9, not ek1.

its still an ek9... but with the firewall or tags of an ek1... easiest to check the rego and subframe
