blowen heavy smoke -3rd gen

gday peoples,
i have a 3rd gen lude and it blows dark smoke real bad when i take it past 4500revs. I'm runnin a thicker oil (25-60) and 'newlon stop smoke!'....and it still burns through the oil and blows bad. is there any cheaper option than replacing the rings?? ....havn't tuned her since putting pod and exhaust on

if the rings are shot no stop leak or anything is going to fix it. they need to be replaced. are you sure its burning oil though? oil smoke is blueish. dark black smoke is your car running too rich. maybe you have an oil leak elsewhere which would explain any drop in oil level?

Thats just your engine running rich id say. COuld it have anything to do with your timing?...Because i had that same problem ... a month later my timing belt snapped and after reconditionuing my head and a new timing belt my car is fine. Not that id wait for ur timing belt to snap :P
