which air intakes?

hi guys, was wondering which intakes u think is the best intakes for preludes, 4th gens in particular.
Ive heard good things about the Aem V2 intakes and also the mugen intakes.

Have any of you prelude owners had any experiences with these products?
Do any of you know what kinda of gains u would expect with a mugen air box??

Mugen don't make any airboxes for preludes (wel there's none in any of my catalogues from the last 15 years)

AEM - I personally don't like them - make little no difference in my experience
I don't like any Aftermarket intakes really - other than the Pipercross Viper 2

I'd just go buy a 5th gen Type S standard intake - 4th and 5th gen preludes have the same engine bays on the VTiRs

Getting cold air intake or another intake won't really give you much more hp. probably less than 2kw. The Type S box is larger than the stock, and u notice the torque more so I would probably go with that.

remember that CAI works better with heat shield, in summer you prob lose power than gain, prob due to the intake sucking in hot air produced by the engine... coz that happened to me. I change to CAI in winter and stock in summer.

I thought it was placed a fair way away from the engine so it doesnt suffer from most of the heat from the engine?
Anyhow, how much would u expect to pay for a Type S intake? Does it fit straight into the 4th gen?

Annyywayz, I woulda thought a CAI would give more than 2kw gain.
I read in a dyno test a aem normal CAI on a high milage h23 had up to 7hp gains at some stage in the RPM at the wheels!
sounds fairly decent i guess

If the Type S has such a good intake and such good headers....y is it only a little more powerful than the 4th gen h22a? i dun get it... :confused:

In NA cars, exhaust and intake yield minimal gains, if you want gains between 10-15% from just adding a CAI, you need to get Turbo. The air you get with the stock box is fairly cold already, its a good design.

With a CAI you also need to remove the resonator and that involves cutting part of the exsiting air box.

well if you want a simple answer to CAI, NA wont give much gain unless you mod other parts to work with it. Most likely you will notice better accelaration response.

mm i heard a few good things about the AEM CAI but its nice to custom your CAI its quite easy to do just prolly need a helping hand. cool thing though CAI make a sweet sound when your car hits VTACK =P vtec sorry =-P...
