D15b4 turbo?

Yes, you read the title right...

I know what alot of you all are going to say (engine swap, get a vtec, not worth it), but to be honest. I cant afford that sorts of job, plus I want something I can do at home at my leisure (I have a falcon to drive around while I work on the civic). So I was looking around and was wondering what anybody knows about turboing the twin carbs.

I know in the states there are a few d15 turbos, but not carbies.

I was thinking of getting something like this from the states and just running it on like 6 psi, and at roughly 1000AUD to get it here I dont see why not ;

also look at that turbo kit. your gonna waste your money, things are gonna keep falling apart. read the usa forums about turbo kits for under 1 grand, steer clear.

and also you need to buy a ecu 800~1000 dollars, and injectors. thats enough money for a b16a swap which would be a shit more reliable then a turbo built buy a little boy in china factory. i would love to see that turbo hold 25 psi for two days.

but as you can see my part costings, you need to purchase ecu and injectors also a fuel pump, so your total will be enough to buy a b16a half cut

the first turbo car was carb if I'm not mistaken.

Blow through turbo systems get an extra "you're so awesome" points in my books, proceed with this idea and be a winner.

btw, a member called me from ozhonda and we chat about his EG GL was jett'ed at queen st, he paid around $800-$1k to jet up his carby, made 150kw atw .. Stock twin carby.. Dont know if its true but maybe it can gain alot..

i dont think that is true, jet kitting couldnt give you a gain more then double the original power.

some b18cr struggle to make 150kw on NA. infact i dont know anyone anymore with a 150kw b18cr

Well I don't plan on running @ high psi, only between 5-8ish.

I just want to be able to say, yeah, she is turbo. And can atleast hold its ground against my falcon (more specifically, other falodores :P).

And with the b16a half cut idea, I can afford the parts. But labour costs etc will be through the roof. With turbo its something I can sort of do myself, and then get it tuned somewhere.

I might head down to turbo technics (down the road) and ask for some advice and maybe even prices. Grab a 2nd hand turbo or something.

In the mean time, for some stupid reason, I am seriously considering doing this and im.kusuma, I'll let you know via PM how it all goes and how feasible it is exactly (Never know, we might get a mad deal if we do 2 cars @ once :) )

i hope your not talking about the turbo technics in Newcastle? anyway anything can be put togeather with a she'll be right slogan slapped on :P

as for cost factor for injectors...... its carby lol :) but if you can do it your self, wack it togeather get the carby tuned to the boost level you want and she'll be right ;)

power wise prolly more effective to get a cheap D series motor thats injected or SOHC Vtec throw that in and boost that :)

Nah, there is another in bankstown. Apparently the do clean work and are really helpful..
