The sport needs Schumi more than ever, with teams reducing budgets or pulling out all together they need his appeal to get people interested in F1 again.
He is a legend, and will probably do well again.
it seems lik every new season theres something to look fwd to...
cant wait to see how button goes vs ham.. how alonso fares in a Ferrari... n the return of schumi (lets hope)...
lookin fwd to it indeed...

I reckon hamilton will smash button...
Alonso to also smash massa...
Let's hope schumi does well...he doesn't deserve to come back just to make up the numbers.

what technical changes have been done to the cars ?
what technical changes have been done to the cars ?
from the top of my head
- no kers this season..
- no refueling this season so the fuel tanks r much bigger..
- minimum car weight weight has been increased to 620kg (not sure of exact figure)
- Front tires r narrower

I did that last year, your not missing out on much, the line up is huge and the gp advantage isnt really an advantage if everybody has the advantage. All the garages were closed when i walked past, however the C63 safety did a mad take off from the start line.
Bit hot in Melbourne, best to buy a wandering ticket as the stands are quite far from the track. Who else is going to Melbourne this year? and anyone planning to go to the Singapore race? Might see ya there.

lol hahah - damn misleading gp advantage..
im guessing all those who bought grandstand tickets have 'gp advantage' although i could be wrong..
i ended up with a 4 corners ticket and im on the main straight on sunday..
it is hot i remember going back in 2007 - i walked the track after the sunday race and i got toasted.. had the outline of sunnies on my face for a couple months lol
i wish i could go singapore again this year.. if i could do it again id go to the singapore flyer and get the package instead of in the grandstands..

Vettel for pole and Massa, Alonso and Hamilton to follow respectively. Shumi done pretty well for his first qualy.
FDBenni

Should be a good race
Rosberg has outpaced Schumi consistently though so not expecting much from Schumi.
Webber did a bad qualy, will be hard for him to reach the podium
Will be interesting to see how the traffic is like, the new teams are as much as 11 seconds off the pace per lap
Force India is surprisingly doing quite well
Button most likely wont be defending his world champion title
Disappointed in kobayashi's performance, but could be the car

Less overtaking since the cars are heavier and only 1 tyre change in that race which meant less chances to overtake again during pitting time. Oh well........

tbh i fell asleep after the first round of pit stops..
mostly because i was tired but as aaron said above, less overtaking / position changes.
Alot of that did happen in the pitt stops & alot of strategy was involved with fuel levels during quali & re-fueling during races etc..
I understand the removing all that puts more emphasis on the drivers skill and the ability of the mechanics & pitt crew to preform better under pressure and passing on the track as opposed to the overtaking being done in the pitt..
Cant say im totally convinced with all the new rules yet.. but i feel they have shot themselves in the foot

The last few seasons have had far too many rule changes and its killing the sport. Why can't they just leave it as is? The whole not being able to change tyres on race day was pathetic.
Chr1s
15-03-2010, 09:31 PM
I think the lack of fuel stops and whole conservation of tyres makes the race a little boring at the start and by the time the fuel becomes a real issue, the gaps are too big to do anything about it!
I agree it was boring once the race settled.
big tone
16-03-2010, 10:55 AM
there was more interest watching the back runners as they were going at it.... othere than those guys the rest of the race was very boring..
why they took the fuel stops out for safety reasons i really dont know... the speeds they get upto is dangerous..
all they had to do was enable the car to stay raised till the fuel pourer was removed then drop the car and release it..
maybe even reduce the size of the tank to have more stops too.. the V8s were good to watch..
once the othre teams get upto speed then i recon it will become a good race..
cant wait to watch a wet race then all the cars are equal.. it then becomes the driver..
aaronng
16-03-2010, 12:32 PM
why they took the fuel stops out for safety reasons i really dont know... the speeds they get upto is dangerous..
Too many fueling mistakes where the pump failed or the guy who was putting the fuel in did not remove the hose on time. You can't totally remove human error without removing the process itself. So they removed fueling.
Also remember that fueling was introduced in the 90's to encourage overtaking. Before that, there was no refueling.

Hate all these new rules.
Very much agreed with others in the fact that F1 has got very boring.
I'll still watch it as i do enjoy it but dislike the new rules.
No fuel stops is ****ing ridiculous IMO.
Overtaking due to drivers error and pressure very rarely happens, drivers are training to deal with the pressure of an opponent behind them.
If they standardize engines for everyone, ill never watch F1 again.
On a good note, this years F1 seems to have alot more people buying tickets so hopefully it'll be up on last years sales :)

lewis hamilton got done tonight for fishtailing out of albert park in his c63 lol.
got his car impounded
lulz
FORMER Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton was caught hoon driving and had his car impounded tonight.
The English McLaren driver did a burnout and a fishtail along Lakeside Drive in front of a Victoria Police divisional van that pulled him over.
Hamilton, who was visibly upset, had his car towed away and impounded and will also receive a fine.
It is understood he told policemen at the scene that he was worried this would dent his reputation.
The Herald Sun understands that he was not taken back the police station for questioning.
The incident happened between 9.30 pm and 10 pm tonight.
In 2007, Hamilton was banned from driving in France after being clocked driving at 123mp/h (around 200km/h).
He was given an on-the-fine and his sports car was impounded by French police.

It's happining this year, unless another manufacturer makes a huge advance in development. Vettel can possibly win 80% of the races this year based on current form.
Bloody Mark Webber, always finds a way to lose! I gave up on him at some point last year. Before that I always thought in the right car he could threaten. Was I wrong. I reckon he'll be sacked at eoy unless he takes a massive pay cut. Shame.

Have to say, intermittent rain always makes the race much more interesting from a viewers point of view, but for once it would have been better with a dry race today. I agree that it is pretty dodgy since they are using rule 40.13 which states - "If the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pit-lane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking."
It seems the drivers got the message that the safety car was coming in on that final lap before the end of the lap and not that the race would finish under safety car.

Vettel is a fn diiiick............head!
There is an unwritten rule, Vettel broke it. In the end he deserved not to finish. But it should have been a Red Bull 1-2.
Hopefully he will learn from it and mature.
What I took away from the race though; McLaren will be the team to beat next race out and for the championship I believe.
Unless Red Bull have some great new developments up their sleeve. If you remember last year, McLaren developed their car
better than anyone else in the second half of the season.

Vettel had plenty of room and there was so much of the straight to go i duno why they dint keep going.
Vettell probably would have got Webber at the end as he had the speed and Mark would have yielded at the end of the straight cos Vettell had the inside line
But farout that was pretty ordinary
Hopefully it doesnt rattle the team for too long
The reaction from Adrian Nuey and Christian Horner was priceless LOL
McLaren definately the team to beat for Canada

there is bad blood between the Vettel and Webber you can tell it... every before the race... probably ever since Webber started winning... Red Bull is trying to proclaim everything is la di da but by wisking Vettel off to the team caravan thing
s**t like that can spell the end of a championship... it was early on in the race anyway... chances are the Mclarens would have probably overtook Webber and Vettel because of the F Duct... still Vettel could have got some points on the board to help the constructors championship...
i don't even know why people are getting p!ssed off Webber still leads the championship... if he and the team were smart enough they would take it into their stride, get their stupid F Duct working and work as a team...

There was always something suss going on over at RBR
Vettell was always the number 1 driver - and it was easier to hide when Vetell was winning last season
But not Mark's ontop you can see the frustration on SB's face..
MW now leads and the team would be foolish to risk another incident like that again..
It is early in the season but as long as MW is consistent and keeps maintaining the lead over SB then the team will have to back the lead driver whether they like it or not (i.e. Christian Horner & Helmut Marko)

27-06-2010, 05:17 PM
FDBenni, what you have to understand is that RBR told Webber that if the race was to continue with VET second, that HAM would overtake him before the end of the race. Now Vettel went for the pass thinking that Webber was letting him through to keep the RBR 1-2 but even when Vettel passed Webber didn't yield, this is the problem. So the problem is that Vettel thought Webber yielded and wanted to get into racing line for the up and coming turn! from an unbiased point of view it was Vettels fault but Webber could have and probably should have yielded.

everyone keeps saying that red bull will fall for a while now. but yet they still end up at the front of the grid and they still end up on the podium..... short slow and or fast.... as webber said in one of the pre talks they are runnin alot more downforce on there cars as they are sacrificing speed for better cornering..... vettels last lap was fastest lap for the race... by 1.2 over alonso fastest..
once they get sorted with the f ducked i think they will have a great chance on the faster tracks..

was a good race by Webber - particularly since he didnt qualify well..
hopefully he gets his chassis under control and starts to put down more competitive times..
Suzuka 'should' be an RBR win but you just never know..
Id love to see Mark take out the WDC but he needs to keep that buffer in the points or better yet extend his lead..
I still think RBR should put their eggs with MW and get the team behind him - hes got a race win points lead on SV.
If SV was ontop i know they would have backed him all the way - just cant see why they cant do the same for MW.
Alonso has really stepped up his game and right now hes the favourite imo (dual world champ - used to the pressure etc etc)
Hamilton has been real unlucky (some say stpuid) but i think his car isnt up to scratch with the RBR or Ferrari.. although they are bringing an upgrade to Japan.

So heading into Brazil this weekend..
I somewhat feel abit empty inside - as Alonso takes an 11 point lead over Webber it makes you wonder what would have happened if those 7 points got docked for the 'Ferrari team orders' incident.
It would be a great shame if Alonson won with 7 points or less and I'm sure the F1 community will see it the same way.
Sure we can argue that everytime has team orders but for it to be so controversial would leave a bad taste imo.
Anyway I think he is in the box seat for the WDC - and as much as I would like Webber to win (long time fan) I think Alonso has the skill and the car to do it and RBR will collect constructors
Alonso will be on the podium for both races pending some reliability issue or someone launching into him (Vettell maybe lol)
As long as Vettell doesnt win tbh LOL - I'll be satisfied with the 2010 season.

i really hope mark can wrap up the WDC.. but wont be unhappy of Alonso does
RBR wont issue team orders as the owner specifically said that the team will not favour one or the other
But Horner and Adrian Newey have both said that no team orders will be issued however a decision will be made by the drivers on their own if they find themselves out of WDC contention.. i.e. SV to yield for MW for the race win.. or SV to crash into alonso LOL jk
