Stuffed up today on one of the gears and hit the rev limiter for around 3-4 seconds, is that much damage? Or it should be alright?

Engine: DOHC D16A8

did it go past the limiter? ie you went from say end of 2nd then shifting back into 1st (instead of going to 3rd) which would cause it to go past the limiter?

why would you let it happen for up to 4 seconds? you could of easily put the the clutch in and change to an appropriate gear before letting it sit there for 4 seconds.....

if u mean when u shifted u missed the gear and it bounced on limiter in netruel before u realised and backed off, it should be okay.....lol

as long as it wasnt on a downshift (i.e from 3rd gear to second gear) your fuel cut and rev limited will protect your engine from revving too high.

Theoretically you could hold your engine on limited for a short period of time without causing any damage due to these two functions

Nah didn't mis shift from gear 2 to 1, just 2-3 didn't go into gear and thought it did, so my feet hit accel and yeh over reved to rev limiter for about 3 seconds :zip: Dunno why it didn't go into gear felt like it got stuck.

Just remember why the factory limiter is there... to stop your motor over reving causing damage.. You will be fine...

should be fine, but try not to do it often, just be a bit more cautious and watch what gear you put it into... but overall should hurt the motor, takes a lil bit to blow a motor off limiter especially a honda one :P :D

stock rev limiters are set BEFORE damage is done. repeated hitting rev limiter like that is going to strain your engine, but once or twice isnt going to do anything
