Hey :o
I'm new to Honda, although my family isn't, 2 of my uncles love them.
With a recent job change, and just coming out of university. I had to purchase my first car. Didn't want to spend much more than $5000 to get one on the road. I'm 21 but have never actually needed a car. Been borrowing my dads, the 4x4 or the Commodore. But now I need something economical to get around town, to the station, or even to run around the city.
So I picked up a really tidy EK1 Civic, only 170k on the clock. Its in great condition and was owned by an old couple. The interior is like new, exterior has vague evidence of paint fade on the rear bumper, but what can you expect from a 13 year old car!
It was the best runabout I could find within driving range (of my mates crappy Barina lol)... needed something fairly reliable to do a couple of freeway runs a week. Its nothing special, only a CXI, but it has air-con which will be nice here in QLD.
I'm unsure if I'll go nuts modding it, probably a new stereo and wheels first, I hate hub caps and cassettes :p My dad did up Torana's so he knows a fair bit and can help. I might lower it a little, change the air-intake and exhaust for some simple mods if I have money to blow next year.
Might post here later, it would seem I'll probably be chasing a drivers side mirror, the car itself is fine... but the mirror has been whacked in its life and the owner has glued it back together! I'd just be after a standard black one...
My main to-do:
- Find a drivers side tail light door (missing)
- Decent 15-16" wheel/tyre package... nothing too expensive.
- Possibly lower it over the new wheels...
Other auxiliary things:
- Install 2" exhaust system, change the air intake.
- If I still like the car enough, a respray of the fading panels...
