how do i stop it? ive lowered my car (cd5 accord) about 2" all round, and my <9 month old front tyre ($250 a pop) are now rooted.

what i want to know is 1. will a wheel allignment help in the future AT ALL? 2. how much is a camber kit for a cd5 accord (only need the front) and 3. where can i get the camber kit from.

oh and maybe 4, is there ANYTHING else at all that can help (besides raising the car to stock height etc etc.

any help is greatly appreciated

also, i forgot to state that i went from the stock 15x5" wheels to 18"x7.5, i know this is what has caused the premature wear, just wondering what (or if at all) can fix it.

Unfortunately, having it decked will flog tyres out. However if it is a concern to you. Then this will help.
For starters you need to try and reduce the amount of negative camber so that you have about 1deg or less of negative camber. Depending on how low your car, you may need to get camber adjustment for the front's and rear. Next get a wheel alignment done, 0 toe on front.
This will help your tyres last alittle longer, however you'll still flog tyres, but at a slower rate. As having it decked will also screw with your steering geometry, thus causing the excessive wear. I'm not sure if the accord has rear toe adjustment, if it does, also have this returned to the factory setting.

As for sourcing camber adjustment, my guess is search ebay motors US. As the US has an enormous aftermarket parts base for all hondas, plus it cheap.

haha nope, and realise im a F@$king idiot for not doing so in the first place. getting new tyres AND a wheel allignment tomorrow.

its actually a bit more then a 2" drop, probably closer to 3". definantly enough to ruin 2x$200 tyres in 6-9 months.

not having a wheel alignment ruined your tyres
i'm tucking a bit of tyres on 195/55/15 with a good alignment with -2deg camber and they wear just as well as not having a camber kit

ohk, so it was a rookie error not getting a wheel allignment when i first got the wheels? its sh!t too cause not many dealers up here have 225/35, and if they do theyre an arm and a leg. did find some at bob jane though for on;ly $169 a pop, not too over the top.

Your toe settings can cause some camber wear so yes a wheel alignment could help but it doesnt totally resolve your camber wear issue. If your a tightarse and you got rear camber wear as well then put a few washers in between where the rear camber arm gets bolted to the vehicles chasis and that should resolve the rear's problem.

ohk thanks for the input man, the funny thing is, the rear is fine, just the front, which i gues sis some conselation. i think ill buy a front camber kit off US ebay, putting it in is another thing hahah.

when u lower ur car ur toe settings change, and its excessive toe that eats tyres, not so much the camber.

Zdster (Mike) sent me this email ages ago and I kept it,cause it really sums it all up!

My suggestion is to put the coilovers in and the new wheels on and then get a wheel alignment. Odds are, you probably wont even need a camber kit - as long as you get your toe as close to zero as possible.

If you can get your toe to zero and your camber is roughly even on both sides, then all you need to do is rotate your tyres every 5/10,000km and you should be fine.

My car is lowered at the moment (on pretty hard coilovers) and runs 15's (an ek hatch), my toe is zero and have about -2degrees of camber with no camber kit and is perfect.

OK thanks mate, ill definantly get one with the new tyres tomorrow then. also just looked inside that guards and i think scrubbing when turned at full lock may have something to do with it to as there are MASSIVE scrub marks on the inside of the guard which i didnt notice before, so ill have to take a mallet or something to the guards perhaps.

its not plastic though, it seems to be metal of some description haha. ill try take some pics after chrissy and put em up to try show you what i mean.
