Is there any difference between a 95 model VTI-R teg
engine and a 96+ VTI-R engine

nahh mate, all vti-r integra's have the b18c1 vtec engine
as where the gsi have the b18b2
and the type r has the b18c7

open your hood and count lol, or go on ebay and look at one of the cars at the dealer for sale, and count it there

also redbook.com.au has it aswell (Y)

Actually guys there was a change.

This was when the ECU went from OBD1 to OBD2, and if you look at the air intake arm between the airbox and throttle body you will see a small inlet resonator hanging off the top of the pipe on 93-95 models, where this is blanked off on 96-99 models.

Performance figures remained the same, however I'd imagine a characteristic of the engine (possibly throttle response) may have improved marginally.

Now I know. I have a 96 and always wondered about the missing inlet resonator when compared with other pre-facelift DC2 Integras.

A few years ago I drove a stock and immaculate 95 VTi-R and it just seemed slightly flat in engine response, this is the only basis of my opinion, but no one has ever had another suggestion.
