Just a quick question i own a 91 civic with a d15b2 motor. Next to the battery the intake pipe starts and it has a black box underneath it with a hole going to the intake pipe can any1 tell me what this does and is it needed? cheers

the whole length is the filterbox and the resonator if u do have one.

the filter filters the air and the resonator, just makes the sound softer so it doesn't make old nannas scream at you to be quiet. lol

what are you planning to do? *evil grin*

not sure if were on the same wave length its just an empty box that comes off the bottom off the start of the intake pipe. I was gonna take it off to fit a pod filter. thanks

sure, you could do that.
but are you sure it's empty?? if it is, you've been driving around without a filter i reckon.
just remove the box and everything before that.

to be slightly smarter, try sucking cooler air from the front of the car instead of sucking in hot air from the engine bay.

you could try to just change to a better filter.

if you would like to go the way of the POD filter, i would recommend that you create a heat shielded compartment for it to benefit from the installation of an aftermarket filter.

after all, you want cold air, not hot air.

its not the airbox with the filter in it. Just a black box next to the battery that comes off it right at the start way before the airbox.
