Whats your stereo set up?
Ive only had my S2000 for 2 weeks now so Im a bit of an S newbie. I just upgraded from a prelude that Ive had for 6 years now. Being that the S only has two relatively weak stock standard 6" speakers that dont exactly have the greatest clarity....especially when the tops down... I decided that the stereo would be my second project on my car (after fixing those damn holes in my soft top!).
In the last 2 days Ive bought and installed a sony mex bt37fou head unit with blue tooth and USB which my ipod and memmory sticks plug directly into which Im loving. and I bought and installed a pair of focal 165 cvx speakers. Already Ive noticed a MASSIVE difference in sound. the focal speakers have such crystal clear sound and beautiful mids. you get a really punchy sound where you can both hear and feel the kick in the drums.
The next thing on my list (once I save up a bit of money) is to buy an amp and a sub so I can really maximize the power in my speakers. Does anybody have any recomendations on amps and subs? especially subs.... Due to the lack of space we have in the S a part of me realy doesnt want to use up any of my precious boot space with a big sub box. Ive been looking at these compact subs that fit underneath the passanger seat but Im a bit iffy on how much bass and clarity and volume their going to give me. Has anybody had any experience with these kind of subs?

haha
how r ya mate
i just upgraded my sound system and got a sub and amp
in my S i have a alpine v12 amp which supports 600wrms so its pretty powerful..worth$700
and a sony xplode 12" subwoofer in a slimeline box which fits perfectly into the massive hole in the boot and allows the boot to have a flat surface level surface.
they are on special at JBHIFI for $168 and are 1500WATT WITH 380WATT RMS
ill post up pictures later if you want
all i can say is that having a single sub in the boot for an s2000 is more then enough.
i have a mate with 2 12 inch subs in his accord euro and i pretty much match his sound in the s2000.
sitting in the drivers seat with a sub behind is a pleasure..the sub works as a massage for the seats and you will absolutely love it haha.
oh and im running kicker speakers inside the car with a pioneer head unit.
works alright but i need a seperate amp for the speakers bcuz wen u get a sub installed..it over powers ur speakers..and the speakers i have are damn loud and clear.

OR you can go a Light weight setup.
Earthquake TNT amp and SWS shallow subwoofer built in the spare wheel location.
Then you have all the space you want in the boot and weigh about 5-6Kgs.
T500W/2 and SWS - 8 with custom slim box.

Crescendo Opus 5 6.9" Splits
STEG 45.4
VIBE CBR12 12" Active Subwoofer Enclosure
That's mine.
Anyway I've been working on some custom solutions using my VIBE BlackDeath 6x9s.
Here, check them out, they have a motor from a 10" subwoofer: http://www.shoppingsecure.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=53
Are you in Sydney? I could demo a couple of pieces of hardware to see if anything jumps out at you.
*Edit* Just realised you added melbourne to your location.

Nah sorry. That was my plan. But Ive seen the enclosures designed for the SWS-8 Subs. They are tiny. The amp is small and bridges to 300w RMS which is plenty for that subs. It too weighs bugger all and will fit under the seat with no problems.
Ive been running around without a spare wheel for a year. I drive with CE28Ns daily as well. Bit of a risk huh? hehe

what is constructive for this thread of 'whats your stereo setup' aaron? why not list yours and be honest. most who have put plenty of money into their stereo system dont want to share this on forums without wanting their gear stolen, not to say that there are thieves on forums...

i think by constructive he meant (just to emphasize i wrote I THINK ICACHA please read properly..) that u shouldnt reply unless u got something worth saying.
for e.g. Tamays2k answered the reply nicely.. properly and STUCK TO TOPIC without whining.
dc5 then.. made another suggestion
joe posted his..
i myself read that he was looking at enclosures so i recommended something.
Basically everyone stuck to topic, u didnt. AGAIN

keep on topic means to keep on the subject about stereos which this topic is about.
this is your last warning for an infraction.

haha yea
sony is not that good from what i've herd, im thinking of now doing a custom box for the boot and make it a flat floor with a 12 inch sub in the middle. Yea id love to go for a competition sub but id rather use that amount of money on moding my engine. i dont need top of the range, only something that will last and play well...but then again..if that means i have to go competition sub then i guess i will :P
im looking at getting the new JL audio 12inch sub or a Alpine type X
i forgot the actual model name for both but i got a mate who is a wizz with systems. he didnt recommend me to get the sony, infact he went mental wen i told him lmao.
Anyone know a sub that can be supported on a alpine v12 AMP. it supports 600watt rms and is the reason why i think i blew my last sub haha
and a price would be nice
thanks guys

Hey if your looking at subwoofers in that sort of category I wouldn't hesitate to suggest the VIBE Space 12 to your list.
Heres the link on my site: http://www.shoppingsecure.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=80
There is a dealer in Melbourne as well: http://icedistribution.com/dealerlist.html

in my opinino mate avoid Alpine subs.. they arent the best.. like dont get me wrong there pretty good but.. for the price of an Alpine sub u could find much better.
I'd go for the JL if i were u, there really good too.
