Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!

OK in this little DIY, I will demonstrate how you can change your Recaro Type R seat rails from either Integra to Civic or vice versa.
why .. ?

The Integra and Civic EG share the same floor plan and have ecactly the same seat rail mounting locations. What this means is that you can have rails to fit both cars. Now if you have an EK civic, then no other rail will fit other than EK.

I am doing this to show how you can change the Integra rails on a set of recaros to a set of Civic EK rails.

What do you need:
A socket set to unbolt the 4 nuts which hold in your seats,
A little spanner to unscrew the yellow screws (6 per seat) of the rails
Firstly, the seats:
Here are a set of recaros without the rails.

Here are the rails:

Step1.
Turn the seats over and start unscrewing. The seat on the right is with the rails attached and obviously the seat on the left is without.

Step2.
By looking at this picture you will see that there are 3 hole which connect the rail to the recaro. *Please Note* Every Recaro seat from either a Civic Type R or an Integra Type R are exactly the same and the holes are all in the same position. i.e. in the pic below you will see me lin eup the new rail to the seat for the civic.
http://www.dohc-vtec.net/gallery/DIY/recaros_rails/IMG_3087.jpg

Step3.
Make sure you have everything all there. In the pic below you will see a breakdown of the rails and the screws required.
http://www.dohc-vtec.net/gallery/DIY/recaros_rails/IMG_3088.jpg

In all hosesty, its is as simple of unbolting the rails that dont fit and replacing them with those that do.

Step4. Place the Recaro with the new rails to yor car.

Step5. Bolt the seats back up and be merry :)

If yiou have any concerns please drop me a PM or ask.

nothing was modified correct? it was just taking ek recaro rails and fitting them onto the recaros from an integra. and both the rails, bolted onto the recaros at the same places. it was just the physical nature of the rails that dont bolt onto the other car. have i undesrtood this?

and why have u changed recaros? are they not the same? (itr = ctr)

fried you are correct. But you will be surprised how many people dont understand how easy it is and the simplicity of it all.
I was using 2 sets of recaros for my demonstration.

Just a question... I noticed on the picture of the upside down seat.. that the recliner knob are both on the same on both seats... i think they should be on opposites sides of each other... am i right?? So on the driver side it should be on the LHS and the passenger side on the RHS. Therefore both knobs will be closest to the handbrake lever. Can you confirm this please..But it doesnt seem logical to have them squashed inside like that..

Hi LatinEM1,

We don't think you will find it simple to use your existing rails for the new RECARO seats. You can find Genuine RECARO Base Frame to bolt straight into your vehicle. Then when you sell your car you take your seats with you to your new car, put your old seat back in your old car. All you have to do then is buy a new Base Frame for your new car and get to keep your seats! These frames will only fit with genuine seats though as all RECARO seats have the same hole centres, even factory and aftermarket.

toE edit: Check your PM.

reviving the thread, as i wanted to highlight the similarities between my thread and this one.

in my link here (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showpost.php?p=657363&postcount=5) i've got pics of the difference between EG hatch and sedan rails. if you have a sedan and want your seats to sit lower, get the hatch rails. its a straight swap and you can actually feel the difference in height.
