hey guys,

Recently bought a 86 integra from a mate and i have changed the spark plugs and leads, and had the injectors cleaned but it still runs the same and miss fires. . . I have looked at the ecu and i get 7 quick blips and it pauses then repeats itself . . . Does anyone know what this error code is? its a d16a engine. Anyone help would be appreciated

Cheers,
Rob

According to this DIY it may be a TPS sensor (which sounds consistent the first gen)

If you're needing help with the TPS join up and have a look at this forum (specialise in first generation Integras)

If you have a look at the forum link I provided they should have a service manual there (downloadable) and you'll be able to find it.

Can't honestly remember off hand, will have a mate post later to chime in.

if the 7 blips is tps sensor, thats the throttle position sensor or something like that, my teg has the same problem... although mine doesnt run like balls,

have u tried another ecu?
distributor cap?
leads
plugs
timing

does it run like balls all the time or just at idle??

cleaned up the distibuter up, new spark plugs and leads.... it sounds like its running on 2 cylinders, when i unplug injectors 3 and 4 nothing happens to the engine but when i pull one and 2 off you can tell the engine drops a cylinder, ad i have changed the injectors around and still the same problem. . . . can you help?

Sadly not really Rob, most members here aren't savvy with older Hondas.

Give that forum I linked you to a go and see if they can help, or go and see a Mechanic (will be a simple fix)

If you are getting a CEL code of 7 and it is the TPS sensor, you most likely have to replace the whole distributor unit itself.
I had this exact same problem with my car a month ago, the TPS sensor is within the dizzy itself and you cannot source out this part individually, hence you have to replace the whole unit to eliminate the problem. Mind you, this is what I did and the problem was solved.

Your best bet is to find a second hand distributor for your motor, and take it to a mechanic to get it swapped over.
Good luck.

have u checked that there is no damage to the injector wiring harness?

cant see any damage to the injector wireing looms, could the tps sensor malfuctioning cause no injector pulse on cylinder 3 and 4???
