As my car is still in the process of being resprayed etc etc etc..
I've decided to swap over from the OEM Grille to the JDM Grille
Picture;

My question is it a simple swap over between the two grills or will the OEM Grille need to be cut out and then plastic weld the JDM Grille in?
Will it be a different Honda badge or will my current one fit in there??

I won't be doing this, i'll leave it to the panel shop but just wondering if anyone has ever done this here on OzHonda or nows of someone who's done it.
Thank u

That grill you have posted is a facelife Type R Grill.

If its the first time you are removing the grill you have to remove the front bar.

If you open your bonnet you'll see that the front grill connects up to the upper part of the chassis by 6 plastic clips. Best to use a flat head screw driver to remove these.

After this you'll need to remove the front bar (http://forums.clubitr.com.au/showthread.php?t=121)

Once you've removed the front bar, there are 2 screws on the back of the badge, and two holding the grill to the front bar, remove all these screws.

My front bar (The grill area) is actually different to a normal DC5R, as the two parts that connect to the front badge have been removed (So it looks like a Type S front grill, even though most people don't notice it). See the next pic

I purchased the front bar from someone who is a panel beater, and he had already done this. But basically you have to plastic weld where you cut. You'll also need to buy a Facelift DC5R front badge, as the prefacelift badge holder has slits in the side to accommodate for the part of the grill.

You can just use the preface lift grill, but the facelift grill does have the Type R badge in it.

If you need any more help or better pics just ask.

Thank you for that info man, i really appreciate that
As you can see, the one i purchased has the Type R badge but i just need the Honda badge. Will my current Badge fit into the slot available in the new grill or will i need a new Honda Badge?

I'll be leaving the work to my panel beater to do =)

If you have closer photos of your grille etc i'd appreciate them
Thanks

If you leave your front bar grill as is, that mesh grill won't fit, as the Type R badge is going to get in the way of the fin thing that connects to the current front badge holder. I'm at work at the moment so I'll post up to existing pic

Old Front bar. You'll note that in the grill there are two parts that connect to the front badge

New front bar. Here you'll see that they have been deleted, and the front badge is "free floating"

If you want that grill to fit properly you'll need to do the following:
- Delete the fin things that connect to the front badge
- Buy a Facelift DC5R front badge/badge holder. You could use your current one but as it has slits in the side you'll either have to have the slits plastic welded, or live with them.

Ahh yup i see what you mean..
Since mines a different grille from the OEM grille, it's the facelift grille, the old grille will need to be cut out correct?
Then the new facelift grille can go in.

Im leaving it all to the panel shop to do so dw lol...
I aint touchin it haha

As you have the facelift grill with the "Type R" bagde you'll need to delete the 2 parts that connect to the front badge.

The old grill (Black mesh) is only held into the front bar by 2 screws, not sure if the facelift front grill is held in by the same 2 screws.
