I think 45000rpm's is Incredible for a y4!! LOL (Had to get it out of the way hehe)

What cams are they? and did U get it dyno tuned for the cams?

NEEDS and exhaust system with the cams,2.25" I reckon.Intake with cold air ducting.

Lookin' good!

Great work mate,

I would also say to go for a cold air box/cold air intake; but if someone can confirm I'm not sure you can have an open pod filter in NSW? "Strictly speaking" from ADR guidelines any modification to exhaust and air filter needs an engineering certificate, but if you can get a cold air box it might be the best way to go.

I also have a D16Y4 and wanted to modify a genuine Mugen Type R airbox to fit - I think it would just need an adaptor to fit it to the intake plenum as the B series engines have a larger diameter - but they are about $900! Not cheap!

If you do get an intake and for those cams to truly work most effective, the next upgrade might be high flow cat and exhaust with a chipped ECU to get it all tuned and working together.

I have a high flow cat and 2 inch exhaust - don't go any bigger than 2 inch unless your planning a turbo upgrade, you will lose too much back pressure. I'm very happy with mine and sounds great too - it's not the loudest, but has a great crackle on gear changes around 3,500rpm and on blipped down-changes. Remember - loud doesn't mean fast (well, as fast as a D16Y4 is going to anyway lol). But this was the recommendation from Hi-Tech Mufflers in Darlinghurst who did a great job, and given they develop and dyno test all there exhausts in Bathurst (they do everything from Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati as well Jap tuners), they should know what they're talking about.

Good luck with it,

With the stage 2 cams tho,I would go 2.25".If ya get it breathing 100% with subaru upper engine cleaner, calibrating the voltage on the tps etc etc etc all the maintenence things,I think 2.25" will be beat as I've been runnin' 2" for 4 years on my y4 with I/H and running 100% (I believe).I was going to put a stage 1 cam and go 2.25".

What ecu are you using?

A more aggressive cam (singular in your case) compliments other breathing mods. And having a stock exhaust size/standard cat is going to restrict what the cam is in there to do. So finish the exhaust off next and get a decent intake if you don't already have one.

You'll probably find that the "opening up" at 4500rpm is because the car is bogging quite bad before that rpm.

either boost it or b series conversion if you want more power.
Otherwise handling mods
