Hi all,

Im in the process of choosing some new rims for my silverstone AP1 which currently is running stock rims. Im a bit new to all this can you guys suggest what rim size, the offset, tyre size and if it will RUB against the fender at standard height, and also when lowered.

was thinking Volk CE28N....

Thank dudes!

I run

Front: 18x8 +48 215/40
Rear: 18x9 +50 245/35

no rubbing when lowered even without camber, running more camber now and I could easily go up in tyre size widths, 17's would be a better choice in terms of weight saving, if I get new wheels id get 17x9 +45 non-staggered all round with 255/40 semi slicks.

whats the advantages and dis in running staggered and all round????

if its allround, will the front n rear offset different???

one advantage would be for looks i guess, makes your car look good

Staggered mean's either different offset front to rear, or different rim width front to rear, or both.
Running staggered usually make's it feel more neutral, with a bit of understeer. Like the way the S2K feels from factory. Running same offset front and rear can prove to be a pain, if it's an aggressive offset and if your car is lowered. No doubt you'll munch the front guards unless you get your front guards rolled. But the steering feels more positive, with less (or no) understeer.
Some like the staggered setup, as they claim it makes the car more real to drive, others prefer the stronger steering response of running wider track on the front. There is no right or wrong, it's more a preference thing.
I've had both, and choose to run with same front and rear.
Most importantly though, these differences are felt more through good tyres and not crap ones.

so when u say aggressive offset, what is consider aggressive???

the stock AP1 now i have is
Front:
16" x 6.5", +55 offset, 205 tire
Rear:
16" x 7.5", +65 offset, 225 tire

if i want to run 17" what type of offset would i want if its staggered and all round, so i dun worry about rubbing against the guards??

i currently run 17x7.5 +50 F & 225; 17x9 +63 R & 255
which is a very very safe size for s2000

if you worry abt rubbing, not only the offset and width, but also the camber; car height; spring stiffness can slightly relevant to

Agressive starts at +38 on a 8" rim for the front and for rear +40 on a 9" rim. Guards rolling would be required as would dialling in plenty of camber. But there's a few that still run plenty more aggressive than this on wider rims and they stretch the tyres. All depends on what your after.

OFFSET
GET WITH TUFF OFFSET
18s are a perfect size
amd try 8 inch front and 9 inch rear
im looking at trying to fit 18x9 with +37 offset soon

so let me get this right....

stock ap1 front is 16" x 6.5", +55 offset, 205 tire,

so if i want to get 17" x 7.5", my offset should be what so its close to factory standard????

It really depends on what you want bro. First thing I would do is go google and learn about offset what it means etc. etc.
It's all about personal prefrence, I've had 3 sets of rims already all staggered 17x8 and 17x9. Now I want to try a 17x9 all round.

However if you want a rim that dosen't rub then 17x8 + 53 a d 17x9+60 will clear with CE28's on 225/45 and 255/50 tyres. However once you lower your car I would reccomend you to roll the front guards anyway as you most likley will bend it lol.

Agreed, as usual with what Vyets said.

I too have been through 4 sets of wheels for my car trying to find something that suits what I want out of the car.

Best thing to do is hit up s2ki.com and browse the gallery section and see what style and style of wheels you prefer.

the main advantage to nonstaggered setups (imo) is that you can rotate your tyres f+r. i still think running stagger is better (as there are improved handling characteristics), however you can buy the same sized rim and just run different width tyres f+r.

p.s. buy my wheels :D

Hi guys,

what ya think of 18x8+45 and 18x9+45 Advan RS. I got quoted $3500 w/o tyres. I'm soo tempted to buy.

Would they fit? I would roll and camber my wheels. What size tyres would I need?

I originally ordered 17x8,x9+45 Enkei RPF1's but Tyrep**wer kinda f**k me over... i waited 4 months and then they said it was lost... (they were the black version) then i said i wouldn't mind silver ones if they can get that easier via YHI (wheeldemons)... the guy said they don't do special orders.... what so special about 17x8 and 17x9? Their really common sizes....

They never took my deposit so i have no idea wtf happened. During the 4 months i do occasionally ring up to check progress but they kept telling me i'll call ya back and never do. Then 2-3 months later they said it was in QLD and just arrived when i rung up... then 1 month later, they said it was lost...

Ok moving on, kinda got over RPF1 over the 4 month wait and saved a little more! So now looking at Advan RS!

Sorry if i hi-jacked this...

get the advan RZ look nicer and they concave more at +45.
Yes you will need to roll both front and rear guards. you can run 225/45 and 255/40 tyres like that.

Nothing special about 17x8 and 17x9 it's just pretty standard sizing and alot of rims come in them sizes. Some people go with 17" to be lighter, at the end of the day it's upto your personal preference. I don't like 18's on the s2k I think it looks too big.

sizes are commong but the offsets may not be. same case with me when i wanted to order ce28s. they have set offsets but will do custom ones if you want your own offsets.

the advans will look hot

hehe, I think 17's look to small in our large oversized guards.

Though, if I ever get a set of gold Advan RG's they will be 17's F & R. Only wheel that came pull off a 17" size in our guards IMO.

I have made up my mind.

I don't like the spoke design of the Advan RZ, resembles a bit of CR Kai which i hate and only look good when it's 19"+ on GTRs/Rx7s.

I'm gonna get 18x8,9+45 Advan RS!

Check this out. 19" Advan RZ... haha way too big...
