Civic EK1 2000 CXI

I have a problem with the car reving itself when its in idle. Here is what happened:

I left my car undriven for around 2-3weeks, uninstalled my rsm, tacho, amp + subwoofer and neon lights. As it hasnt been driven for so long so the battery is flat. I recharged it and took it for a short drive around the streets and when it in neutral i realised the engine reving itselfs. Why does this happen?
What do i need to do to fix this? Or theres nothing i can do other than taking it to machenic and cost me heapps to fix?
:honda:
Anyone know how to fix this?

Yes!

Clean out the IACV:

And if it's still doing, check to see if you have a FITV and adjust it: (probably wont need to do this but)

What engine is it?

Sweet.As above then.

If you pop the hood and your looking at the engine,on your left, next to the headers/extractors is a stamp with the engine number, probably d16y8 or something.

oh yea. its D16Y4.

i wanna ask you about adjusting the FITY - do we adjust it while the car is on or off? and does the battery needs to be disconnected while adjusting?

Im trying to find the IACV behind the throttle - still cant find it??

Same as mine.

The IACV is on the bottom of the throttle body.U will need to take the TB off to clean up the IACV.Do that first.

If still erratic then adjust the FITV.U need to have the car running to do this.

Leave the battery connected!

should be a couple 10mm bolts afaik

looking at your engine bay front on, it'll be near the firewall bolted up to your intake manifold(which then the tb, throttle body, is connected to)
should be silver and black, black section is a cylindrical thing

TB = Throttle body

Here's (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110641) Chris's y4,How to remove the TB.

Then there will be 4 bolts on the bottom that bolt on the IACV.Undo them, take it off and clean it up with carby cleaner real good and the whole TB.

Put it back together and back on.

If ya keen, you could do this (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2476685#post2476685) at the same time. But maybe at a later stage, good to get familiar with how to do it though.
