Hey guys, im going to purchase a s2000 from queensland and im from vic, i was wondering if anyone knows what you have to do for purchasing the vehicle, i went to vicroads and they told me i just need a purchase reciept. now that i think of it it doesnt sound right. Is it the same as purchasing from the same state, thanks.

u need to pay for it and pick it up/get it delivered. A receipt is for your own safety. do a vcheck (like a revs here in nsw) to make sure it doesnt have any encumberances listed against it.

then you take it home and get it registered as per your states motoring authorities procedures.

speaking from very little experience i'm pretty sure it's very simple

the receipt really is all that you need. make sure he states all his details (look at a transfer form on vic roads to see the details you need) and all your details.

I just recently purchased an s2000 from NSW and Im from victoria so it should be the exact same process. For security reasons get them to go to what ever the QLD equivilant of vicroads is and get the registration disposal papers which they then sign over to you.

Then write up a contract stating you not only take ownership of the vehicle but take on all responsibility for any fines that may occur whilst in transport to victoria (make sure you write down the exact date and time of purchase just so they cant sting you for any of your old fines) this way you can drive the car back to victoria without having to pay for a qld roadworthy and temp registration to drive it back to melbourne. Also make sure you get the persons full name and address on the contract or else vicroads wont accept it.

vicroads doesnt accept the disposal slips from interstate sales as proof of purchase for some weird reason but their still good to have for security. so long as you go into vicroads with a copy of the contract you wrote up as proof of sale along with a few forms of ID thats all you'll need. you'll also need to get a road worthy done before going in there and you pay the stamp duty and rego transfer in victoria.

hope that helps. Ive had my car for a month now and Im just getting around to doing all this stuff this week.
