Engine Light is on

Hey, I drive a Civic EX 1.7L, nothing flash, but lately on my drive (more often now than before), The engine light will turn on.

when the lights on, the drive becomes shaky at times, and sometimes jerks when i'm not accelerating.

is the idle above 750-800rpm? or does it drop below? auto or manual?
