my brother has an ek Cxi civic and last night when he turned the car off, the brake ligts stayed on. He had to disconnect the battery so it didnt drain it. Today he reconnected it again but same thing the brake lights came on again without turning on the car. Any ideas on what may cause this and/ or how to fix it?

Thanks
Tom

There's a little piece of crap at the top of the brake pedal which triggers the brake light switch. If you stick your head in the drivers foot well and look up toward the brake pedal, you'll see the 'switch' which, when pressed in, will turn the brake lights OFF. The thing that has previously pressed the button in has come off.

I glued a ten cent piece in it's place.
