have you tried going thru a broker?

or if you are game, try going to a honda dealer and using their easycover insurance (underwritten by swann)

currently i am looking at insurance myself, try http://motorinsurance.com.au/car.html, they had the cheapest quote for me so far

good luck

most companies allow pay by the month
there is a small fee and if you do the sums, it works out slightly more expensive than if you pay in one hit

man spermzy you lucky insured under parents sigh =(.. i goto fork out 1.4g a year for my vtir full comp . but im rating 2 ^_^ sweet. btw not 25 yet almost though and word of warning people about been nominated as secondary driver. if you are planning to get your mum of dad to nominate you as secondary driver dont bother. you might as well insure it under your name because why the minute they know the secondary driver is under 25 the premium rockets up. you would pay the same price as if you were insuring it under your own name as it would be if you insured it under your parents name and put you as a secondary driver.

since your 18 i dont know if many insurance companies will let you insure it . but im betting for those that let you insure it under your parents and you for secondary will most likely let you insure it under your own name too. it will cost about the same. and you get to start working on bringing your rating up. you might start off as a rating 6 or somthing but over the years as you drive more and dont get into accidents you will pull your own rating up. so maybee get rating 1 or so when you are 25.

but u can also insure it under your parents name but dont mention your secondary =P. cheaper insurance =P. *COUGH COUGH*

I am with RAA in Adelaide (same as NRMA and RACV) at 22 I have Rating1 full comp and I pay $790.00 for my typeR

if you're 18 the only thing I could suggest is get it in your parents name and you as a nominated driver, I dont think you'll have much luck getting it in your own name.

Just Car would be your best bet. Get it under your parents name with you as second driver and the good thing is that just car allows mods, so if do have an accident your still covered.

i should be getting my vtir on friday, i am paying $3129 with justcar. no one else would insure me apart from racv, for $4200 or something....

remember with justcar u can have unlimited mods, as long as they are LEGAL, so make sure that everything on ure car is legal if u are going to mod...this is the hard bit

Plus itr_112, as the itr is an over powered vehicle in Victoria, which means in victoria you probably wont be covered no matter what if u are on ure P's as there is always a clause in insurance policies that says insurance will not cover you if you are not licenced to drive the car. (ie, its an OPV so u are not legally licenced to drive it)

RACV and Just cars are the go. RACV has unlimited mods to but its 5 dollars per mod. Racv quoted me 3000+ and 1.8 to 2k under dads name with second driver. Most of the other companys wont insure you coz you're under 25. Best bet is Get your dad or mum to insure the car and dont mention a second driver.

a broker is someone whos job it is to find financial products for you e.g insurance. they do the legwork and they get a cut as well. sometimes worth your while

as for ratings, well yeh. both yrs of driving exp (in Australia!) and no. of years insured (NCB) will factor into this

Honda insurance is underwritten by Swann, which is part of IAG. NRMA also is part of IAG. what i don't understand is that 2 different companies can charge different premiums yet it's the same parent company?!?!?!?

when i was with Honda Insurance i found them to be okay, as part of the policy they also have 14 day car hire if you have an accident etc (which i used)

Here the go I am 20, By law in Melbourne i am not able to drive a honda integra type R of any type. I own a AUSDM. By me sayin gettin ur car insured under ur parents name they are responsible of the car. If you crash the car and admit to it obviously you do not get your car insured. If there are no police involved and no witness and its your fault just give your dads details and said he crashed it. Although its insurance fraud majoirty of the people do it. Its up to you if u want to take the risk or not. In the end you shouldnt buy a car you can not afford insruance for thats the buttom line. ALso it is against the law to be driving one also. Why not wait till u get ur ps. No cop hassles also no insurance hassles.

I forgot to add your last options. 3rd party neally everyone will insure you under third party and you get your own rating to. Although i do not advise this. As Australian statistic stands all P platers will crash their cars at least under their Ps. It is a true fact although we all think we're heros and a the best drivers.

Truth is I orginally was planning to buy a My00 WRX. Only reason why I did not purchase one was insurance. P platers + WRX just dont happen and if does asking for a very very very large sum from just cars. Unless you want third party. So I ended up with a type R which I must say the best car ever :D

no offence man

i was just saying that's probably the most sensible piece of advice regarding insurance cause it's so true

i mean, you can't stay on your parents insurance forever or whatever it is. eventually you will have to go out and get your own insurance and you will start from no NCB at all (? - is this true? i'm sure people will jump on me if it isn't :D )

at the end of the day, i guess you can do what you like. but if you're upfront about it with insurance then if anything happens, expect it to be solved with relatively no fuss.

I am pay approximatly 3200 a year for my integra turbo fully covered, under whats called a modifyed policy which means i can do what ever i like to the car as long as i tell them, and update what gear on the car i want insured.....

what does NCB mean? doesnt it just matter on the number of years youve had your license n accidents...? can different insurance companies chek up on your history?
