Since I have had my euro the temp gauge has never done anything other than warm up to just below half, even in very hot weather, or when driving hard This is good.
But I have noticed 2 things. The enging warms up to this temp very quickly
(2-3 mins) and whenever I open the bonnet after driving the engine bay 'feels' very hot, or at least hotter than any other car I have owned, this is noticable for example when you grap the brace to hold the bonnet up, or just stand over the enging bay.

I'm not concerned as I'm sure that the temp gauge would show if anything was hotter than it should be, but just wondering if anyone else had noticed that temps in the engine bay were on the hot side? and why does it get up to temp so quick? I know it idles faster while warming up, but even still it seems to get up to temp pretty quickly???

I agree that the temperature guage stabilises very quickly compared to my previous car at least (Honda Prelude)

I don't think the engine bay feels very hot though.
My Prelude was way hotter than the Euro, I think.
Sometimes I hardly feel any heat on the bonnet even after a pretty long drive.
Never opened the bonnet after a drive though.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. Just give it 5-10 minutes of normal driving before you rev the engine.

Hondas are quite good at warming up the coolant quickly and maintaining a constant temp. Euro is a 2.4l so its a bit bigger than some other 4cly engines creating more heat to help warm the engine. and Im sure its by design as a warm engine produces less emmisions. but still be nice to your engine even when the revs have dropped coz just coz the coolant has just warmed doesnt mean your engine is at normal operating temp.

yea ive noticed my 94 vti-s accord warms up real quick.. way quicker then any of the other cars ive owned.. but id still let it sit for a little longer or at least not thrash it for a bit..

Yeah - my Euro engine bay gets damn hot. Have you tried checking the oil after a decent drive? The area near the top of the dip stick feels like it is on fire sometimes.

i didn't think it was a problem, but still good to know that others have also noticed this
