That cant be true it needs to be re-registered.
Unless they leave a note next to your car's rego?

That doesn't seem right. However my experience with transport authorities is that everytime you call them you get different advice, or a different interpretation of the written rules.

That being said, they're usually more worried about the car being registered for less seats than what is stated on the cars registration

My advice would be to call them again, if they also say that you wont need it to be re-registered then ask if it's stated in any specific clause (which can be referenced to if you're questioned by the police).

remove seats, seat belts, ethier drill out seat belt bolt holes or secure with bolts using a loctite solution, it will then cost $100 in QLD at most places but varies as there's no governing party that has an offical fixed price, varies based on if they come to you or if you come to them etc

I personally would strongly urge you to keep them in for a few reasons:

future selling perspective
having to carry people in emergencies
noise factor
and you will be a magnet to police and under cover cars as it's one of thoe things that does stand out and isn't always mod plated in the first place

Did it make a big difference performance wise?

slightly, of course less weight. the less the engine has to pull along, i noticed a bigger difference with this + no spare wheel. i think with carbon hood and boot the difference could be felt alot.
