On my auto y4 there is an auto gearbox cable that runs from the gearbox and connects onto the throttle body rotor where the accelerator cable attaches too (on the opposite side):

On the y7,there isn't a cable.I couldn't see one anywhere.

So my question is,does it have one?

If not,what system/setup does the y7 use?

It should have a "kick-down" cable, was your original car/engine manual? only a throttlebody off an auto would have the bracket for the cable.

The idea is that when the throttle opens a certain amount, it will pull a lever on the auto box, forcing it to kick down a gear

The box should definately have the cable/lever

I have this gearbox for sale and it's off a D15/16

you can see the kickdown cable coming up from the front (closest to the yellow power lead) which has a bracket that holds the cable, and a lever that goes into the gearbox

can you post any pics of your gearbox??
