View Full Version : Question about HID's/electrics

today, i installed hid's on the mx5 for a mate, and one side didnt work.
i swapped the bulbs, i swapped the balisters, and re did the ground,
each and everytime it was always the same side that wouldnt work - any ideas what i did wrong/or what is wrong?

check to see if the fuse is blown?

check further up, so your input to the HID control unit, probe the power and earth at the bulb socket.

Does a std H4 work on that side, u may have wiring problem you need to fix first!

the issue is the HID control unit and or teh direct wiring to the OTHER side.

find out if there is an issue (loose clip , moisture etc) on the unit itself

after swapping the hid control units around, im forced to believe its not them,
so if it is loose wiring or moisture etc from the otherside, why would it cause the opposite(the one thats not working) to not work?
because the circuit goes from the power source, to the first light(which isnt working) then to the 2nd light.

pwoer ---------ground---> HID bulb+ ballister (DRIVER SIDE NOT WORKING)------->ground-----> HID bulb+ballister ( PASSENGER SIDE WORKING)

When i did mine i stupidly connected it up wrong and blew a balist it up... I got a replacement balist off ebay for $30 and it works a treat :)
