To anybody who saw my Dc5r vs dc2r thread, monday came and went, apologies for taking so long :P.

+I work too late. Anyway, so, you buy yourself a second hand car with more than 60k kms. This car is like a dream car (not in monetary value, but value to you) and you plan to keep it for quite a few years. the car is more of a performance based car (s2k, dc5r, dc2r, ctr, etc.), let's say an integra type r. Would you get an engine rebuild done after you buy it, or would you wait for something to go wrong.

Basically, are you of the opinion "if it's not broke, don't fix it" or "if the car is that important to you, do it straight away and you'll get the most enjoyment."

I chose to take mine off the road straight away because my thought was although its my dream car, its not really my dream car until i have done everything i want done to it, then i can be proud to drive my dream car

60,000kms is hardly anything, i would start looking at a rebuild past 200,000kms

unless you gonna boost it or do some extreme work, its got plenty of time left.

i change the kms to over 100k. the only reason i said over 60 was because there are some pretty bad condition 70k kms cars going around and the rx7 for example pretty much dies at 80 so yeh, i landed on 60. but for arguments sake we'll change it to 100k km.

rx7 is a rotary. their engine life cannot be compared to a honda engine.

60,000 is nothing. Its a strong motor, built to last and be driven hard once warm. it will last you until 200,000. Even if you wanted to turbo you could leave it stock. Theres plenty of information on this forum about that.

I don't think you should rebuilt it until it needs it.

That doesn't mean wait until XXXXXX amount of KMs though.

My 1990 EF8 CRX SiR has only done 96,500 original KMs but I'm going to rebuild it because the head gasket is weeping a tiny bit of oil - and I'm going B20 and everything :D

60 is nothing lol

shit when I hit 100 was nothing, 200 was nothing, 300 maybe replace a few things (stock oem clutch, selector, flywheel, etc) lol
