thats one of the early generations of the D16A8 (ZC). most likely a brown top as it has the crank sensor outside of the dizzy. it came in early CRX's, and i think some integras?

why you ask?

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Asking because i'm considering buying the motor to put into my ED civic...Any opinions on that while we're at it?

Cheers!

if you want to do a D series DOHC conversion, i suggest a newer generation D16A8 or a JDM ZC. will be much easier on your self to source parts. but in saying that, it still is quite hard sourcing parts for them. i have a AUDM D16A8 and consider them to be at times a pain to source parts for.

Where are you buying it from? Can't you ask the person/company to be more specific?

And I agree with riruiz_88 that you should get a newer D16A8 or JDM ZC. You can get the ones from early 1990's for a few hundred bucks. I got one for free, full conversion <lol>
They pull well for what they are and have a nice torque-curve compared to the SOHC VTEC engines.

Are you paying for labour in the conversion? Coz labour could be close to $1k and you could always try to get a B16A :)
