View Full Version : Clutch feeling very light

Hey guys,

Just installed a new OEM replacement clutch by Exedy for my EK D16Y4 and I've even bled the clutch lines but I'm suprised at how light the clutch feels? A little bit heavier than say an accelerator. It feels lighter than my old worn clutch and there's no real feel to the clutch.

Clutch isn't slipping. Ran it from 2nd, 3rd and 4th rolling at about 20km/h with WOT and no slip. Is it meant to be that light? Also friction point is about halfway clutched out. Does that sound about right?

OEM will always be lighter than aftermarket so it is ok

Old clutch was 90000km OEM clutch though.

maybe try adjusting the clutch friction point?

Is the clutch pedal kick back up properly?

Mines pretty soft as well.

normal. d series are hideous for soft clutch feel. Brand new aftermarket or stock its all the same.

agreed my d series was shithouse, my aftermarket b felt like doing a leg press for the first week

The clutch is a bloody marshmallow. I'll just try my best to get used to it.

when i got an exedy heavy duty clutch it was heaps soft... after 1000km it got a little harder.
compared to my previous worn clutch the exedy HD made the pedal softer

How about friction point for you guys? Was it low/high when new?

can't remember how the friction point was like with a worn clutch my mine has been the same level and high for the last 2 years.
maybe the friction point is 1/3 of the way down.

Old clutch was 90000km OEM clutch though.
Your old clutch pressure plate could have been worn out which caused the movement to be not smooth and feel heavy.
