in the very early stages of a turbo build.making the manifold and a mate has a turbo off a 2 litre diesel hilux would this do the job on a b18c only planning on running low boost(6 or 7 pound) just to give my teg a little bit of a move on
what does everone think?

i dont think that will work well at all, diesel turbos have small A/R's and tiny rear housings you will prolly come onto boost at 900rpm and choke the motor after 4500rpm and being worse off then you are now plus the flange will be no good for upgrading.
look at a T28 off a S15 or T25 or a R33 turbo at least but i wouldnt waste my time on that turbo you have.

cheers mate thats what i thought spool to early in revs but mate was going to give it to me.could i change compressor wheel and housing
not interested in upgrading just want a 6 or 7 pound set up whats best for that have t3 flange dimensions was going to fabricate to them then find a matching turbo

im o sell it off and get the S15 or R33 turbo like LFB said.
they are very cheap these day. my mate had his S15 turbo for sale for only $500 only did 30,000km
u can always get flanges made to change from T25 to T3 foots

its really more work for nothing to modify that turbo your best of going for a T3 RB25 turbo in good nick if you want a T3 flange they also have no worries generating up to 200-220KW.

just going to build with a t3 flange hopfull it will fit with my design.
does anyone know the rough dimensions of a t3 so know how much room to allow for under the bonnet. (height, length, width)

get the turbo first. Then work out how you are going to fit it in
Just rem the turbo will define alot of what you do with your car. Its also the heart of the setup so going cheap on this can cause more problems afterwards.

go gt30. gt28 is limiting, even on the b16.

Yeah a T28r is limiting.
Your perfect ones would be GT2860RS or GT2871r (basically T3s in a T28 housing)

get the turbo first before you make a manifold, the point of making a custom manifold is to design it around the turbo.

my opinion..............nothing smaller than a gt3071r............0.82 rear with external gate and ur laughing all the way to 8400rpm limiter............

Completely agree. Even a GT2860RS (like mine) will do OK on a B18cr, but you'll do better with the above. A T25 will strangle it.
