Hey everyone,

My front and rear rotors are almost gone, and my pads are definitely not great. So I'm looking at getting new rotors and new pads (aftermarket). Now I don't plan on tracking my car really, but I am a very spirited driver, and I am looking for a performance gain as well as cosmetics.

I was just just wondering what suggestions people have for any rotor/pad combo, that will look the part, but more importantly do the job.

Cheers!

RDA slotted rotors and some Endless or decent aftermarket Jap pads.

I'm using DBA4000 blanks. I'm not a fan of slotted rotors because they chew through your pads quicker. Plus, you don't need the glaze-cleaning ability of the slotted rotors on the street. You only need them on track.

As for pads, a good one for the price is Hawk Ceramic, but now I am using more aggressive Project Mu NR, which are a bit too sensitive for the street and they groove the rotors very quickly.

I got the DBA4000 blank rotors from vsport.com.au. They have offices in each state. They were about $520 for all 4 corners. If you want something cheaper, then go RDA or OEM rotors.

As for the pads, you can get Hawk pads from heeltoeauto.com who are based in the US. Current price is AU$105 for front and AU$68 for rear based on the current exchange rate, plus you need to add in shipping costs which I'm guessing might be around $220-250 landed here.

i've got the DBA 4000 with Project Mu Front pads and Project DTM rear pads,
Like aaronng said, they wear out the rotors fast, but have some seriously good stoping power, a little bit of screeching also from the pads im finding as well once they heat up.

which i find strange as i've only had them on for about 3 - 4 months, and surely they couldnt be getting low.

If you are using Project Mu HC+ pads, they screech no matter what because they are a metallic compound pad.

It depends on the type of pad. If you want the rotor to last long, the Hawk Ceramics are good. They sacrifice a bit of initial bit to last longer. However, you need to follow the bedding in procedure, which is the aggressive style by braking from 80km/h down to 20km/h repeatedly quite hard, so it is not something you can do on public roads.

What would be better out of these two?

The DBA 4000 Series XS: http://www.heeltoeauto.com/DBA-4000-Series-XS-premium-cross-drilled-slotted-Front-Rotor-2003-2008-Acura-TSX-JDM-Honda-Accord-CL7-CL9-DBA_42510X-pr-63461.html

or the DBA 4000 Series 6x6: http://www.heeltoeauto.com/DBA-4000-Series-6x6-Wiper-Slot-Left-Hand-Front-Rotor-2003-2008-Acura-TSX-JDM-Honda-Accord-CL7-CL9-DBA_42510SL-pr-63459.html

The XS is only for street. Don't use it on track.

The 6x6 is a bit better, but not ideal since some of the slots go all the way to the edge and can cause premature cracking if you reach hot brake temperatures on the track.

But for street, both are fine.

I'm guessing 0-350 or 380 ºC

I've just come back from holiday, and I cannot find the DBA's for the rear...

Am I crazy or do they not make the DBA4000's for the rear??

The part number for the DBA 4000 rears is DBA 42511. If you want slotted rears, then get one each of DBA 42511SL and DBA 42511SR.

Thanks man, but those are the DBA4000's. I'm just looking for the street series slotted, cos I don't want the slots to go to the edges.

hmm, maybe I should go racingbrake on the front and rears; are they good?

I thought you wanted DBA4000 since you mentioned that in your post that you could not find them.

For street slotted, the part number is DBA 2511SL and DBA2511SR (get one each)

Racing Brake's standard rotors (HP) are like DBA's streets. The Racingbrake UP rotors are similar to DBA4000. The UP has curved vanes, while the DBA 4000 has kangaroo paw. Of course, Racing Brake has a few extras like the electrocoated paint to slow down rusting and their own directional arrows to show you which rotor is left and right.

HAHA, sorry man... I'm retarded...

I did mean the Street Series.

As I'm looking at it now, it seems that the racingbrake front and rear is a lot cheaper than the DBA's.

With this new information, I'm probably gonna go with racingbrake front and rear and hawk ceramic pads. Sound good?

cheers

Actually, what would be better for braking performance and life with the Racingbrake rotors; The hawk ceramic, or the RB ET500?

Does anyone know of any reputable places that can do the install of rotors and pads in south eastern Melbourne?

Any suggestions would be a great help!

Remember to factor in shipping. The shipping cost of rotors through airfreight can be over $100-200! So get a quote first.

Hawk ceramic pads are pretty gentle street pads. They have slightly less initial bite than the stock pads, but slightly better braking ability. Great for street.

Which Racingbrake rotor? The UR or UP? The ET500 is quite aggressive, so you might find that you have to be more careful with the brake pedal. That was what I found when I went from the Hawk Ceramic to the Project Mu NR pads.

The setup I think I'll go with is as follows:

Front Rotors: Racingbrake UP Brake Rotor (Slot), Acura TSX 04-08, Front Slotted PAIR, 90761 90762

Rear Rotors: Racingbrake HP Brake Rotor (Slot) - 04-08 Acura TSX REAR PAIR, 9627R-111

Front Pads: Racingbrake Brake Pads, ET500, 04-08 Acura TSX FRONT SET

Rear Pads: Racingbrake Brake Pads, ET500, 04-08 Acura TSX REAR SET

All that shipped to Melbourne from Heeltoe Auto for $950AUD...

Any thoughts?

Bumping an old thread.

So I installed some Hawk brake pads on my rears a couple years back. I can't remember the exact model of the pad, but 2 years later they have eaten my oem rotors.

So time for an upgrade. DBA 4000 series has been mentioned here a couple times. Where can I order and is there a part number?

How does the 4000 series relate to the 2510 and 2511 model that turns up on the DBA website catalogue? How about pads, what would pair nicely?

Only looking to change out rears at this stage.

Cheers

If you go for the street series, it's the DBA2510 (CL9). If you want the T3/4000 series, they would be DBA42510. Add S for slotted or XS for slotted and cross drilled. I would look at regular DBA2510S for normal/spirited road use, if you wanted the slotted look. GSLRallySport is good place to buy rotors.

Leaning towards getting blanks for the rear (DBA2511) and the slotted DBA2510S upfront. Now for pads....

Depends on how you drive. A lot of people like going the safe option and going Bendix, which is fine for their normal pads. Their performance pads (Ultimates) dust like no tomorrow though, and I've found QFM HPX to work really well. Do note that they are performance pads, so they can bit a tad more noisy when cold (usually gone after first brake, and it's not a loud screech) as well as having a bit more initial bite. This is the normal for brake pads as their more agressive they are, the more noisy and bitey they get. There are other brands too, depending on what your looking at, and I think there's another thread with some good recommendations on brake pads in this sub forum.

So I'm wondering how this would go:

Front:
DBA slotted (DBA2510S) with OEM Honda pads with replacement to be decided as required.

Rear:
DBA blanks (DBA2511) with Bendix General CT DB1265-GCT
