this noise suddenly appeared yesterday and hasn't gone away, im worried :S at first i thought it was the pump because the noise was soo loud, but it doesnt get any louder when the pump is under load, it seems to increase only with revs... has anyone else heard of the bearings stuffing up for the steering pump pulley?
the engine turns over slower when starting as well as if there is a load on the engine.

I hope that engine was already warmed up when you revved it.

Sounds like a bearing. I would remove the accessory belt and spin both the power steering pulley and also the small pulley on the auto tensioner.

If the sound is coming from the power steering pulley, consider changing the fluid too.
