Does anyone know what a 94mdl Civic SOHC VTEC, 5spd man with just a CAI would run down the 1/4 mile?

Only reason i ask is i went to calder park friday night and saw some el falcons running a 16.31 stock 6 but i thought it'll be quicker than that.... i was thinking to myself, my car has to be in that area for sure!

15.61"lol ... u mean almost completely stripped of everything ;)

Chip ? not sure apparently it was originally meant for Thai N1 Racing series.. that's all I know... it actually reduced my peak power by 1Kw, but made much more power through the mid-range etc.

no adam - was only Semi-stripped as I still had door-trims, carpets, glovebox , roof lining, sunroof (and motor), all wipers etc.. so yeah adam is IS semi-stripped. that's at least another 20Kgs to strip if I need to.

All I removed were the front and rear seats and parcel shelf to get the 15.61" time..

as for my 15.02" B16A 1/4 mile.. I only removed the rear seat and stereo system.. didnt you get a 14.2" ?? so why you trying to belittle my 15.6" time ?? hahaha

Civic Type R
06-12-2004, 05:52 PM
no im not belittlling anything bro. All im saying is that 15.6 is unachievable in a EGVTi without a lot of weightloss and some mods. Your time is damn quick for a EG VTi!

my 14.2 was done with the same 60' time as my old B16A engine. I just need to work on my launches better.
when i get a 13 i will call it a day ... is that christmas i hear .. ?

hahaha well unless I am the most super drag-racer in terms of driving skills in the world, I dont think my time for a SOHC was anything special.. I mean the motor was STOCK with shitty old K&N filter on stock intake tube.. stock Sparkplugs (180,000kms), stock header, standard Cat, stock cat-back, stock tyres and rims and stock suspension.. the SOHC VTEC motor in EG5 is very under-rated.

I mean even just after I fitted the cat-back there was much more power and was faster.. so imagine if that motor was in decent condition (not blowing smoke) and actually had some more mods and sticky rubber etc..

just got my B16 goin faster Last week - so the 15.02" wont last for long...

Seeing I got a 15.8 in my d16a8 stock street trim with just a K&N, id say the d16y could get into 15s for sure... it actually makes just slightly more power than my d16A...

so yeah - id say high 15s with good gear changes and good launch.

Does anyone know what a 94mdl Civic SOHC VTEC, 5spd man with just a CAI would run down the 1/4 mile?Back on Topic, all I can sugest is that there are so many varibles that come into play when drag racing (Weight, Power, Launch, Gear Changes, Tire Grip, Driver Skill, Ambient Air Temprature) List goes on. That the only way to find out how quick one would be is to go down to the strip and try it out.

But if you havn't got a car. These are approx values.

Newbie Driver Skill, Bad Launch = 17,s
Moderate Driving Skill = 16's
Good Driving Skills + Weight Reduction = 15's

- KB ... over and out!

I'm just wondering about the d16a8 doing 15s with just a K&N... very interesting as my EF9 has never cracked 15.3 in stock trim with 30 more hp and maybe 100 kilos between an ED9 CRX and an EF9 Civic.

well put this in perspective. (July 2003)
My civic VTiR Hatch with B16A2 and CAI and on full stret trim and rubber (not one thing done to the car) out of 8 runs i couldnt better 16.2. 60' was a 2.34.
The EK4 weighed in at 1125kg on race day.

my d16a8 EG did 15.1@90mph , 2.1 sec 60 ft with press bent exhaust , nearly dead stock clutch , stock air box and 1 race seat only on the car.
ac and ps was still in the car at drag combat feb 04.

hahah you want me to post my time-slips ? you must be a crap driver to get 16's in an EF9 !! hahahaa only jokes Setanta :P

ohh and it's a D16Y1.. not a Y8.. the Y8 seems to not be as ballsy..

driving skill is a MAJOR part with times.
a different lauch technique got me from a 14.7 to 14.2 in one pass.
And that 14.2 was by no means anything good but merely still crap.

The EK1 was running a D16y or whatever engines are in the ek1....

Take a test drive on both and you will find out which one you like better...

I did a 16.3 in my stock ek1 CXI civic. Stock, had a cannon & Pod Filter, thats it! I'm confident with more runs & better launches (maybe a tacho to help me out) I could have ran a 16 flat.

Apparently thats not a bad time for a stock CXI

friend of a friend has a jdm b16a in his eg sedan.. hes doing 15.1 on semi slicks.. exhaust and intake bein the only mods.. pretty good time is say.. and now his friend who has a civic vti-r coupe with the same mods (only difference is that its the oz version b16) does 15.8.. funny how the oz versions are so much slower.

bak on topic.. i really doubt a stock d16 would break a 15 without weight reduction.. wat would be the point of buyin a civic vti-r lol...

well i guess.. drivers skill
