the second one is a tad better id say, first one has some serious damage 2 the passenger door would could also have damage to the chassis, stay away from it

as for checking the car, get a mechanic to do a 20 point test or whatever it is to check the engine for leaks, compression etc, pretty much tell you if the car is gna blow up down the track sometime

it may cost 200 but can save u shitloads in the long run, trust me, learn from my mistake

the second one is undoubtedly the cleaner one... no offence to the owner if he is on here, but the first one is a shitbox... looks like it's been through hell and back

Second one is deff the pick, I would consider dc5r tho now man. Don't get me wrong I love the dc2r's but they are starting to get old. Either way you go I'm sure you will love it

with the second one, anyone else notice the color difference on the front bumper?
front end collision?
i'm curious, how would the op be able to tell if a crash has affected the car to a point where it won't handle the same anymore or not? cos that's something i've always wondered about.

EDIT: oh and anyone else notice all those dots on boot? are they holes from a wing and how do you get rid of them?

Thanks for the reply guys. Next question would be is it worth buying something interstate as it will be hard for me to 'inspect' the car? i just really want to be careful with getting a new car as i know there are quite a few dodgys out there

Easy enough and cheap enough to jump on a plane these days. You need to sus it out tho and decide if it's worth goin interstate to look at a certain car before you sacrifice your time/money. I know of a few ppl who have purchased cars interstate....

Guys again super noob question...
tried doing a REVS check and it came up with

There are no encumbrances that match the quoted identifiers.
VEHICLE DETAILS MATCHED WITH RTA

this a good or bad thing? sorry for the questions, just want to be sure of what i'm doing

If you don't wanna jump interstate to inspect, you could get a mechanic to inspect for you, if it's in NSW then probably NRMA might do it?

There's alot of those mechanics that specialise pre purchase inspections , Google it up ...They give you like a 6+ report on the car and a rating outta 100. To let you know the condition from head to toe of the car. Very good if you cbf going interstate to check it out yourself.

I'd go the 1st one, don't be fooled by sh*ty camera phone images, the 1st has more mods, it depends on what you want, if you buy the 2nd one, go on the forums a bit, start reading about what others have done to get some more power, and decide, I want to start modding my car, then you spend a bit to get the same mods as the 1st car.

The dent in the side door looks like it's at the top, have a close look at the 2nd photo from car 1, theres no dent near the bottom, so shouldn't have done any frame damage (one would hope)

but thats all fine just looking at photos, need to see in the flesh

my no-cents :)

Just because it has more mods does not mean its in a better condition 'nor more value for money if the car's banged up.

why not keep the dc4, spend a bit and go turbo, there lower comp and easy to work on.
longer gear ratios and a strong engine. its a good car for a turbo set up.

Thanks for the input guys. i'm actually having like a change of mind now. I do want to upgrade my DC4 but i'm too in love with my car honestly. I had looked into other options, ls/vtec conversion and turbo. initial research had the ls/vtec at nearly $12 000, is that roughly accurate? and can you recomment any places?
