Many possibilities.

- Imported EK4 SiR ( no sunroof as standard )
- Engine swapped and EK4 radiator ID paltes changed over
- Changed roof to non sunroof.

Best to check the VIN number on the firewall.

I would ask where they got it from. All vtir civic audm came with sunroof

ek4 without sunroof = jdm model with stamped b16a, 170hp
ek4 with sunroof = audm model with sunroof and b16a2 stamped, 160hp

just check the cluster and interior of the ek4 without the sunroof if it goes to 180kms and diff material seats

yes, but the problem is the ek4 with sunroof has a b16a in it and the ek4 with out the sunroof has the b16a2 stamped.. so yea we are a bit confused about the situation

good old honda they make it heavier by adding a sunroof yet give it a less powerfull engine :thumbdwn:

different tune, for our crap petrol.

motors i would imagine would be near identical. think the compression is different.

Thats so confusing, its like both EK's are mixed and match.

so they are tuned for 95octane in australia so running 98ron all the time the motor would be pushing slight more power than the stock 118kw? Maybe 2kw more if that?

i dont think its a power think i think its a reliabilty thing, again im not 100%
just going by things iv read over time.

yeah could been engine swaps done.

real ek4s - AU spec have sunroof (YAY!), the funny black and b16a2 motors

Not sure about SIR imports

Difference is a slight compression difference. AU slightly lower than JDM

Yes, that's correct. Because the motor has a knock sensor, it will advance the ignition timing until just before it starts pinging, or knocking, to produce maximum power. The 170bhp quoted for the JDM model is on their 100 octane fuel - it's probably exactly the same motor as the Australian 160bhp motor. It's just that the Aussie motor is tested for power on 95 octane fuel.

I just checked out BP's website, where they have a power graph for a car running 98, versus 95 octane, and the power difference was between 7.7% and 14.7% depending on revs, so it's quite a difference, when the car has a knock sensor and can adapt to different octane levels. So you can see why a car in Japan would produce more power on their higher octane fuel.

lol yea man i wonder sometimes too.. few of us were thinking of stealin both cars in the middle of the night and swappin engines then seeing if they notice.. lol

guys, aus spec ek4 did come without sunroof if you asked nicely ;)

they came with sunroof standard but it was an option to remove it.

are the id plates the same? i believe if it was an ek4 sir it would have jap letters on the id plate. and i think the sir cluster is amber different to the standard aus ek4 cluster.
