i dont think by flaring your guards out will stop you from getting defected.

04-02-2010, 05:11 PM

pm me and we can work something out.
the only thing you can do is flare and camber kit or just change rims..

MWAKU
04-02-2010, 05:28 PM
even with flared guards and camber kit, you'll still get defected or pulled over if anything

blk-boi
04-02-2010, 05:34 PM
so i cant do anything about it evn thought if i flare da guards and not camber it so much??

MWAKU
04-02-2010, 05:37 PM
well you will cop attention no matter what

just run the risk and flare the guards for like 50 a corner and camber it more at the front, and just run your luck

Not really dude, best of the best thing you can do is drive like that and get defected several times, or go for some decent rims which doesnt stick out much like that..
btw what rims u got and specs :p

There is always solution just flare your guards if u want 2 keep those sportsmax, if not just get new rims. Not a bad eg btw just needs better fitment

15x8 holy crap lol

And I thought I have problems on my cars with 205/40/17 on my Civic and 205/50/15 on my CRX.

You got stiff sussy? How do you corner hard/hit road dips?

vinnY
05-02-2010, 12:29 AM
i'm pretty sure the defect is more for the fact that you've got some mexican offset going on
the wheels protruding out of the wheel arch

dougie_504
05-02-2010, 12:32 AM
^^^ yeah you're right. The Civic wheel arch isn't designed to house that kind of wheel lol.

vinnY
05-02-2010, 12:34 AM
15x8 shouldn't be too difficult, the fact that the offset is 0 is the problem

PHM91
05-02-2010, 12:57 AM
so even if he gets a camber kit for the front and back its still not legal?

vinnY
05-02-2010, 01:02 AM
can you imagine how much camber he'll need to tuck 15x8 +0 inside stock fenders?

gonna look like this guy (http://fatlace.com/hellaflush/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/kyon1.jpg)

like i said earlier, the wheel is protruding out of the wheel arch
no tread-inside-wheel-arch-is-legal loophole in australia as it is in europe

think u need some bolt on j's racing fenders or the wide fenders, or chargespeed wide fenders.

Awesome rims.

I was wondering, would changing the fronts to 15x7 make it legal?

So 15x8 rear and 15x7 front.

It's the offset not the width.

I had a read through this > Guidelines for alternative wheels and tyres (http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi09_rev4.pdf)

There's a lot that they can get you for, just take a look.

Did you get defected at Fairfield next to the swimming pool/tennis court? Cause I saw driving through Canley Vale earlier that day and I got pulled over there but I had an engineers cert and they let me off.

Sorry forgot to mention 15x7 is +15 offset

I'm pretty sure the width of the wheel also affects the offset. If you got a wheel 15x9 and 15x6 with the same offset they wouldn't sit in the same place on the car unless the manufacturer specifically makes the wheels width extend from the inside of the rim and not the outside which is very rare!

vinnY

if you had a standard rim width or 6" and whacked on a 9" rim
wheel track total wheel track will have increased by a total of 76.2mm(half it if you want the increase per side)
then depending on wheel offset this will more or less make it stick further in/out from the original rim's position

so if we go back to the op and plug in some simple details into a wheel offset calculator (http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp)
assuming his stock rims are say 14x5.5 +45 and he's whacked on some 15x8 +0
then the new wheels will stick out 77mm more than standard and take up a further 13mm on the inside

if they did that the offset would change...15x9 and 15x6 in the same offset would have a 1.5 inch difference in poke

why does everyone keep repeating "get flare guards this that get camber get bolt ons" ok we don't need it repeated 50 times in the thread.

and yes, if u run ur 15x7 +15, you'd have more room at the front as long as u still camber it

If you want any help wit fitting 0 offset, give me a PM and i can give you a few answers, my old eg = 15x8 -0offset, but stated above stretched tires is a start. Heres a few pictures on how mine turned out.
