Just wondering, ABS is controlled by a seperate unit other than the ECU right?

Just wonderng as i'm not sure if my ABS is working lately.

I'm running PFC so no ECU codes coming up.

Is there a seperate ABS ecu control? Anyone know how to reset it?

This is on an EK4

it is a seperate ECU that controls the ABS. When you do a DIY ECU test you will get another MIL flashing apart from the engine check light. Use the ABS light to diagnose issues with it....

Refer to these codes. A "code" is a a number of BLINKS , short = single digit long = factor of 10.
BLINKS maybe Together , or a second apart. Count the number or long and short blinks , this determines the code. For example - a code 16 would be one long blink , and 6 short blinks in close succession.

Fault code Fault location
11 Open circuit in right hand front wheel speed sensor
12 Short circuit in right hand front wheel speed sensor
13 Open circuit in left hand front wheel speed sensor
14 Short circuit in left hand front wheel speed sensor
15 Open circuit right hand rear wheel speed sensor
16 Short circuit right hand rear wheel speed sensor
17 Open circuit left hand rear wheel speed sensor
18 Short circuit left hand rear wheel speed sensor
21 Damage to rotor teeth
31 Right hand front inlet, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve
32 Right hand front outlet, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve
33 Left hand front inlet, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve
34 Left hand front outlet, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve
35 Right hand rear inlet, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve
36 Right hand rear outlet, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve
37 Left hand rear inlet, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve
38 Left hand rear outlet, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve
51 The pump motor is locked
52 The pump motor is inoperative
53 The pump motor is constantly on
54 Inoperative relay
61 Low supply voltage
81 The combination control module or relay

Make sense Lim ?

What makes you think its not working properly?

take it up to 80 and stop hard
if it works your pedal will pulse
if it doesn't, you'll just screech to a halt :)

and fyi the abs ecu is on your driver side kick panel
there's a procedure to reset it but if there are no errors it should be okay

hmm, i think its too complicated for my brain.
Ben i might need to visit u to help me. I'll bring the pearl Tea, too technical for me

Vinny - i was at 180km/hr and broke hard on the track but didn't seem to feel ABS kick in (out at wakefield).
Would have thought it would kick in, didn't feel a pluse in pedal at all

ben's method is easy limbo, same as checking ecu codes but you look for the abs light

as for braking, did you lock up the tyres at all? you could have been threshold braking for all you know

hmm how do you put the ABS into checking mode but?

Yeah tyres locked up on track, but no abs....
I dun get it

you don't, same thing as checking for cel codes(jump the check connector)
but instead of the engine light flashing errors, the abs light will

locking up? doesn't sound like it was working then
