Hi guys....i get a weird noise coming from around the engine on my DC5S.....its a constant click, click, click sound.......
I've read that it maybe caused by low oil.
So i checked it and it was a little bit low. So i filled it up and no improvement to the sound. What can it be? any idea would be much appreciated
thanx :(

thrust bearing maybe?
see if the noise goes when you hold the clutch.

holding the clutch makes no difference to the sound....it doesnt go away

only at idle you say...

Open your bonnet and if the noise is coming for just under the rocker cover... it's the tappets... its "normal".

If you're that worried about it, at your next service tell them that the tappets are making a "tapping" noise (Pun intended), and they'll take the rocker cover off and tighten/realign them.

BAM... noise gone.

How many kms are on the car man, it's most likely the tappets, I just got mine adjusted to oem specs and the noise is gone, and I'm using motul 5w 30

hey mate, what oil viscosity are you using? cos sometimes a low weight oil like 0w40 etc is really thin when cold so overnight the oil drips down to the sump and there is nothing lubricating the head so you get the tapping sounds on first start - not sure if this is your problem but this was the issue on a mates BMW; by changing from 0w40 to 10w40, the problem was fixed.
goodluck mate

what ash is saying is possible but im sure the oem filters have anti drain back valves. so it shouldnt drain into the sump over night. if ur using a thicker oil ull get tapping noise on start up

i had honda oil in there from the last service....it was running a little bit low so i put some 5w30 fully synthetic oil in
