Any Suggestion on which Intake to get for FD2 Sports 2.0L (Manual Transmission). I would like to hear your experience with your intake.

If you want to spend big, GruppeM Intake System is recommended.

i hav the simota intake on my FD2, the carbon fibre pod keeps the air cool, it maintains the lower rpm torque and a little more hi rpm power, good sound too! not too loud like open pods...

hey whats straight under your bonnet? you know how some cars have those foam sheet that are straight fitted straight under the bonnet, does FD2 have them? cause i have nothing under. how abt the 2 pipes that are connected to the resonator, what are u gona do with them?

Waternmo
14-02-2010, 09:24 AM
yea my car has those foam sheets on the under side of the bonnet! did u buy ya car second hand? other than the foam sheets, check if u can find Honda stickers too, eg. colour code and bar code.

i'll take out everything that is connected to the resonator! mte hav a duct facing the front and forces cold air into the pod filter

I reckon just remove the resnator box will be a huge improvement, with a good penal filter on stock box.

I wanna remove my front bumper too, so i can take it out.

Mine 2nd hand but still have those foam sheet under the bonnet

thanks guys, hmm yea i figured that i was missing something there as there are holes for screws or plugs, well u guys know where to get from? or should i say do i really need it? so u gonna need an extra elastic duct? simota sells it or ebay

wat i mean is, if his car is second hand then the bonnet mite hav been damaged b4, and this can be a second hand bonnet and they took everything off for the respray.

well, might go wreckers or honda dealers to get that foam sheet, i heard that it protects your paint or it keeps your engine bay cooler who knows. well i just ordered my simota intake today, should be coming in 1-2 weeks, might also get the duct extension, planning to get rid of the resonator.

yeah im keen to see what happens and if it costs much to get the work done. i have a MY07 FD2 manual and i've always wanted to get some work done to it, but no idea what. i wouldn't mind a bit more power out of the engine

Waternmo

to be honest, i couldnt feel much power gain with the intake, just sound a little more aggressive only when throttle is wide open becoz of the resonator -_-

hmm gotta wait longer for intake to come in, supplier delaying it, also anyone know where to get the Vlip addon for Mugen kit?

you know i find this car has a mind of it's own. sometimes the power really kicks in and feels alrigh, othertimes nothing. should line up my stock standard and your slightly modded one to see what performance gain you have.

my car surprised me one night, these guys in an fn2r pulled up next to me on my way to robina, and we both took off from the lights and were even through first and 2nd then backed off for next lights. they didn't try at the next lights. i imagine those cars to be much quicker, but i know seeing they weigh more, 2 guys vers me and my wife who is smaller than them, and me being a better driver probably helped.

in saying all this the reason i have this car is because it is slower, i owned an bb4 prelude h22a manual and a dc5r before moving over here and got into trouble with them so it's probably good there is no big performance gains to be had on these fd2's

hey guys

I just have the resnator box removed, and it sounds good.....so now just a pipe near the front fog lights runs directly to my stock intake box with a K&N panel filter

hey, can anyone tell me what are those hoses that are circled in red are for. One of the hose is a breather and not too sure what they other one is for.
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/7983/oemintakearm.jpg
Can the 2 hose pipe be connected together with a T-piece connector so that it can be connected to this intake arm. As you can see it only has 1 slot for 1 pipe.

not sure on if you can connect the two hoses together and link it to that 1 hole.

1 - breather pipe
2 - oil vapour catch pipe thingy :p
(not sure what the names are)

picture below where someone has change the intake.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff192/overstrike/BMC3.jpg

as you can see the two metal pipes (2nd red circle) is change and moved to an oil catch tank (looks like a cusco oil catch tank, i think its like $170)
and the other rubber pipe (1st red circle) is just connected to a pipe like yours with only one hole
