After opinions. 10k what would you do?

Hey guys, so i get back from europe in may after which I am planing on building a Honda. After originally wanting to import an EF9 si-r civic, I have decided against it due to the complications involved.
The build will be limited to 10 grand maybe a bit more depending. And will need to include the purchase price of the car, it has to be daily driven, reliable, and reasonably quick. I would be doing all work myself or with mates which will keep costs down. At the moment I have 2 choices in mind..
1. Purchase an ED civic (I like old school looks) in O.K cond, spend about 2k Put in a B18 possibly type R depending on affordability, spend about 6k
Then use the other 2 grand on suspension/brakes etc.
This appeals to me because ED's are light and can be made to handle O.K it would be good on fuel reliable and N.A.
2. The second choice would be to buy a EK civic spend about 4-5 grand
Then spend the rest of the cash turboing it. One benefit of that is that the EK is better supported, has EFI already and the D16 can make reliable power when turbo'd.
So what do you guys think? And what would you build/buy for the same money.? Should be interesting to hear peoples different ideas and opinions.

Why not B18 the EK? You've got a better built car that would still be great on fuel and would out handle / out perform the ED. I'm a believer that once cars get to a certain age and you spend more on maintainence then mods it's time to move on. I think most EDs fit in this category already.

Because the b18 with the EK might go over his budget, depending on how much he picks up the B18 for and if labour is done himself.

As much as i am with option 1 with everyone, finding a super clean ED chassis i think is going to be hard, and as much as i love my 15 year old honda sometimes i wish it wasnt so noisy, hence ill lean towards the ek - purely , and only purely because its a newer chassis - but no boost! b18cr it :)

or - if u wanna throw in option 3: a mx5 turbo'd ;)

Not that I dont have love for the CRX just thought the purchase price would be a little steep, and hard to find one without a ridiculous body kit etc.
I dont think I will buy one completed, I want to do it myself, make sure its done right. Looks like its going to be the ED at this stage.

ull be able to find one for round 7-9k

either way ull have money left over for rego and insurance.

then worry bout springs adn rims and so forth

I have tried looking for an EF9 in OZ but have had no luck as yet, these are pretty rare in good cond. And only B16 not sure if its fast enough for me :)

bargin him down to 7k and that leaves you with 3k of mods, possibly a B20 and some other suspension mods
