EG6 Centre Console Kit Question

Hi lads

Hopefully this is a really quick question but I would love some confirmation before I fork out $300.

The lack of cupholders in my EG is royally PISSING me off.

If I buy a EG6 Centre Console from JDMYard, move my Head Unit down to the new Center console (so it's like a DC2). Do I just then buy a DIN cup holder and put it just under the Aircon unit?

Anyone recommend a Din cup holder to get or just get one from supercheap?

ebay will do, fairly straight forward to install in any din slot.

EDIT: i forget to mention you. my friend has one of these in his car, its not great, the single din cup holder when you push it out to hold a cup gets in the way of shifting and he cut down his shift stick one or two centimetres so when he shifts it hands dont bump into the cup holder rofls

I'm gong to assume that you don't have an EG5 (eg. Si or Vti)? They came with standard flip-up come holders!

Try and look for that part of the console instead and install it. Direct bolt-in/ replacement. Much easier and cheaper.

if he does that, hes lost his double din console which he paid $300 bucks for!

double din is over-rated. So is eg5 cupholders, they cant even hold normal sized bottles. If your cup is too tall it will hit the ash tray as well. poorly designed :thumbdwn:

Cupholders are only useful to hold your mobile while driving

i have a cup holder in my eg. the armrest some have a cupholder bracket that sits in the armrest of the egs. which works well with the eg double din.

i think the eg5 cupholders were designed before 600ml bottles became popular, in those days, it was all cans.
also, with the eg6 unit, i read that it isnt really designed to mount a headunit in there as there isnt enough structural support

the bracket peice in the rear, after carefully playing around it will mount a headunit pretty well no problems. you can get a bracket out of a prelude to bolt up to the rear if you want a din pocket to sit in there properly. noticed this when i was wrecking a prelude.
