RPM needle bounces around

The rpm needle in my dc2r bounces around like crazy when vtec comes on, it works perfectly while driving normal, only when it goes past about 6k it will bounce from 10k back to 6k continuously.

similar problem in my vtir.. just bounces round a bit as the engines warming up then its fine.. gotta be ignition related... if anyone knows for sure let us know!

Found a great DIY on Team-Integra for this as my mate had the same prob in his Prelude, very easy fix but this was like 4 years ago so dont remember too well... from memory we opened up the dizzy cap and tightened up a few screws that had gone loose over time, this fixed the prob completely n took about 10 minutes to do. Sorry i cant be of more help.
