no. Its set by teh tuner , cam cover is put back on and tuned. If they need to be reset then the tuner takes the cam cover back off and sets and vice versa.

Its silly , because a tune is only ever really done once or twice and you play a big risk of something getting into the upper head or timing belt area and causing damage.

Or the tuner has their own dyno cover that is cut away & the original cover is refitted when the car leaves.

in qld it's illegal for a timing belt to be exposed, one of those weird rules, nice look though, maybe rig up some perspex to protect it, seen it once before

on my D series i was only going to remove a small circle in the center of the plastic cover so you can see the cam gear ... but i like that perspex idea =)

You sure?? My mini has open cam gears. Got a nice QLD mod plate too. :)

Sits inch or so clear of side wall. Photo was dropping engine back in but shows open cam gears

How on earth do you tune that thing with the AFM right on the throttle body???

easy. Get a good tuner.

Thats the factory set up. annoying really cause cant remove the afm. quite restrictive. besides, im pretty sure its not even plugged in anymore cause its running map sensor.

... Then wouldn't you just gut the internals of the AFM? -- If its not being used for anything purposeful. gut it..

a mod plate doesn't make it legal, it still can be defected as your belts are exposed increasing the risk of forgien objects coming in contact, pretty logical reason to the law I think

been at plenty of defection stations and have seen these come up a heck of alot years ago

some minor perspex work would be a good investment

its actually a good design for putting it in the mini. compact and dont have to find another spot for it. and can't be that shit, it works......

most of the coppers i know are more fascinated with how the engine fits in the car than with the belt cover. I know a lot of them too, used to work for em.

The other benefit of it being in the mini, the front wing is so close it forms a barrier for anything to fly up and hit it.

I think a better design would be a B series in there. :p
