I went into sound'n'motion today to look for some speakers + new sub,

he recommonaded using alpine type S splits up the front to replace my stock splits, 6" coaxil type s speakers in the rear running off what he had was a inline amp running from the head unit 45watts rms per channell, Also suggested a type S sub, I want to minimize space so im thinking ill make a sealed enclosure for the sub ( using my old coustic amp 400 watts rms @ 2ohms on 6 guage wire . I have a jvc headunit i am wanting to keep.

Alpine type s coax speakers - 159$
Alpine type S splits - 249$
Alpine Type S sub 12" - 279$
Alpine head unit amp - 199$

Sub ( has two 12" subs on there site not sure which one)

Would i find just as nice sounded gear for lower prices? I only have 6 gauge wire so i think i will stick with there inline amp to power what ever speakers i choose. Would also like to keep my amp to retain costs

EDIT*** if it matters going in a 07 impreza

not many other decent splits at that pricepoint.. as long as you like the sound of the type-s splits then it doesnt matter if theres something cheaper. remember its better to spend more & get the speakers you love the sound of instead of spending less on something, hating them & then end up replacing em later..

with your amp, you'd want the dvc 4ohm sub (the 1243)

whats an 'inline' amp?

Mate with that sorta budget rear speakers are a waste of money IMHO.

For $408 I could get you a set of speakers which would be pretty damn awesome. Are you ever up in Brisbane? I might have a guy who would let you listen to a set of speakers he got off me. Hes got an older impreza but it should give you a decent idea.

dont get type S i heard its really shit!
get MB Quart or JL audio splits if you can afford them, then get your hands on a JL sub, they are a bit expensive but they are worth your money i guarantee you! I personally think rear speakers are a waste of money

Apline are a very good quality brand, but you need to be careful of what you buy off them, the same as any other brand.

The Apline head units are some of the best out there (hoping not to start a flame war with that one!), and there's not much else that's affordble that can match them. The amps that they have are generally good, but for the same price you can get the same quality with more power from other brands, and speakers... well, I haven't seen to many show cars with Alpine speakers...

The main message is that you should look around at a fair few places that carry different brands to see just what is available, and how they all sound to you. Everyone's taste is individual, so you need to find something that suits your own taste and budget. sometimes that will be Alpine, but I'd hazard a guess to say that most people around would buy a lot of other brand speakers over Alpine. You have to do a bit of research into what suits what you want, and what you expect, and then see what matches that.
