View Full Version : How much did you pay for your Civic ?

I'm looking for a civic VTI Hatch, as some of you's have probably already seen. And most of you's seem to think I was paying to much for a 95 VTI hatch at 12 grand. So I decided not to get that one now, and jsut to hold off and wait, and hopefully I get a nicer one .

But this isn't really about that, I'm just keen to hear what cars you own, make , model, when you brought it and how much you payed for it.

You's might as well make me even more jelous while I'm waiting to find one :D

So just put the make of your Civic, year, and what came with it when you brought it (if you remember), and how much it cost you.

Anyone want to start it off.

i guess i will start :D

i bought my 88 civic ED sedan just over a year ago.
white
sedan
came with 14" csa 5 spokers
came with front lip
had to change muffler (result of hole)
changed timing belt
210,000kms when bought

paid $4200

i think i paid a bit much, but i was told by three diff mechanics that the car is mechanically the best they have seen for so many kms.
had a bit of rust in the boot...(repaired)...still one small spot in front 1/4 panel

anyone else think i paid too much?

i know mojo will say something. lucky sh!t bought his for like $3800 with 16" rollers and lowered springs *bashes head on desk*

I bought a '95 model EK VTi-R for $16,000 with about 80,000 km on the clock, excellent condition about 9 months ago. Very good car, power everything, four wheel disc brakes, abs, alloys, sunroof and a nice interior.

I think the extra money spent on a VTi-R over a VTi is definately worth it, but it took me ages to find one, was luck that it was in good condition.

I bought a 96 Gli civic for $8000. It was completely stock standard and the exhaust needed replacement (was going to do it anyway) due to the fact that the previous owner must have bottomed out on top of a rock (or so it would seem). In the end, im happy considering the average private sale of my model is around $10000.

Johnmiceter
06-12-2004, 09:44 PM
Strafe is the VTI-r worth $4000 more then the VTI you think ?

The only thing I really know that the VTI-r has over the vti is the bigger motor. and it produces 118kw to 96kw from the vti.

And in the end I guess it doesn't matter what you pay for the car as long as your happy hey ;)

94 Civic VTi hatchy
$12k 4-5 years ago with 'only' 118,000kms

SPENT $8180 + $12,000 = $20,180

Plus at least $5000 insurance (premiums and excess) plus Rego etc..

So I'm not too far into my pocket - but I dont think I will be spending much more on her - I want to go on a holiday or buy a house HAHAHAAH

My 89 ED6 cost me 5000, came with 16" rims, stereo, power everything, just had engine replaced 1 year ago and the new one is mech A1 ( D15B4 yay). Only rust is directly under the fuel hole and at the bottom corner of the windscreen (only right on the surface here). I don't have a clue what to do about the rust becuase I don't wanna ruin the nice metalic paint the car has :S

Haha, Phantom.

But if you really like the car, I guess it's worth it.

And how long ago did you get it ?

And I might be buying a VTI 95 blue hatch now for $11,000. Seems the guy near my way really wants to get rid of it and is willing to drop the price $1000 so I am very happy now.

Long as everything checks out ok with the RACQ inspection, I'll be wrapped.

Because I know jack crap about cars really.

I bought a project ED Civic. Colour is "spew white-almond-cream"
Ugliest colour on earth, with shit brown interior. I regret every day after the purchase. It had a whopping 350,000km and it was auto. Had air con and power everything that still all worked. (and 1 week rego).. Bought it off an 92 yr old lady for a 3 digit amount.:)

But the thing is gonna cost over $6000 to get ready.

<$999 Car
$ 2200 B16A front cut
$ 200 Dirty 2nd hand Enkei sport competition rims (11.7lb weight)
$ 100 25mm front sway bar
$ 100 Alarm + central locking (DIY installation)
$ 100 K&N Airfilter
$ 200 On timing belts, other belts, oils
$ 300 2pac paint equipment
$ 300 Exhaust
$ 0 modified MR2 turbo external fuel pump (still need a surge tank and lift pump)
TOTAL so far >$4000.

Still need to buy some tyres, decent suspension, rear brakes, rego, insurance. (~$2500)

All this effort for an 88 civic!!
Would you guys pay $7000 for your own customised B16A powered EF civic with climate control?
This thing better be fun when finished or my small % of respect for Honda's will dissapear completely and i will have to go back to Mazda, Nissan and Toyota... If its fun, well done honda B16A power!!!

first thing buying a car is service it....or do it your self... change the oil, spark plugs etc. but if they have the log book an service not long ago thats good...so we dont have 2 waste more money an time.

I bought a silver '96 Civic Hatchback GLI ... two years ago. It had 117 *** on the odometer and they serviced the car and gave me a full 6 months rego plus the compulsory 3 months warranty from the dealer. I paid $13 500 for it, considering it had $17 500 painted on the dash. I still reckon we paid too much for the car considering a private sale would have been cheaper, my parent's didn't trust private sales and insisted I buy one from a dealer ... it was their money, so I'm not fussed. I haven't done much to the car, my Dad lowered it at one point, then took the springs out and made it stock again and I just popped a CD player in it :)

97 EK Coupe (d16y8), paid 14K almost a year ago.

Went over my budget a bit but its in perfect condition and only uses about 30 litres of BP Ultimate for 550k's.. guy I serviced it with said it's got the lowest emissions he's seen in a long time. Only had 105K on the clock when I got it, now at 130 and never even had a hiccup (except a dead battery).

Love them Civvy's :D

Getting a 1996 VTi-R hatch in about a weeks time for approx $13800(will confirm later in the week) about 149,000km's on it.
Stock down to the cassette player and rims.
Recently detailed and looks immaculate(few dents and dings but thats caused by people who don't look when they open the door).
Good having a 65 year old sell it ;) Good man that guy, good man.

P.S. Hopefully I'll be happy with it as my first car :D

Paid $2500 for my EG Si with 170,000Kms on the clock. 2 prev owners with full Honda dealer service all the way. Immaculate interior, good tyres and 5.5 mths rego when I bought it. A few ripples on the panels and plenty of dings on the doors. Paintwork on the bonnet and front guards was badly faded and heavily stone chipped ( got the panels resprayed for $600 last week ).

Paid $2450 for a EG breeze 1.3 a mth prior to that which I thought was a good deal at the time but this is a pig of a car compared to my Si, 250,000Kms with no service history, plenty of prior crash repairs done badly and oil leaks.

So far I've installed a front lip, clear side indicators, adjustable coil-over's, remote central locking with alarm and immobiliser, JVC CD/MP3 player and JL Audio 6x9's. Awaiting to be installed are halo headlights, front Grille, rear lip, and fog lights!

I brought it fully STOCK man, nothing was out of the ordinery, such as:

Yeah mine was from the tradingpost. The dayi went to check the car out, i bargained the price down from $12g to $9,500. Then an hour later an ozzie couple came to look at the car and didnt even test drive it or anything and offered $9,800. I ddnt have money for deposit coz i forgot but lucky my friend had $200 with him.
So glad!!! =]

EF/9 SiR, 170,000km, black
Options: Elec Sunroof, Elec windows, Elec Mirrors (retractable too), Climate control.
Negatives: Faded paint, Random minor dents here and there, 3 major dents (no bigger than 10cm in diameter).

$5500

The funny thing was neither me or the previous owner new it was an EF/9 or what an EF/9 was. Just thought it was just an EF with a B16 conversion.
