Looks like this might be the answer to the critisism about the CR-Z needing more pizzaz (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126342&highlight=crz). Can't say I'm a big fan of the back though.

http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/../gallery/data/500/crzr.jpg

The front-wheel drive layout and six-speed manual gearbox will remain, but expect the naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre engine to be cranked up to around 150bhp (110kW) and mated to a larger 50bhp (36kW) electric motor. The combined output of 200bhp (147kW) will move the Type-R into serious performance territory with a 0-60mph time of close to six seconds, three seconds faster than the 122bhp (89kW) CR-Z, and a top speed of 140mph (225km/h).Full article from AutoExpress here (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/248239/hondas_new_crz_type_r.html).

I also try to focus on news :)

The Type R version sounds more enticing. The biggest question though for me is what the weight is like.

Shouldve made it an awd with electric motors driving each axle. Like the bmw concept.

I hope honda releases the hsv-010 for the market.

All well and good but its really nothing to write home about I dont think. 6 seconds to 100? just too slow. what market are they aiming for here really?

Its a greener cooler looking more modern version of the current civic type r and thats all. Give it a 2 litre motor and had minimum of 220bhp then thats a start. More like 240 and a kerb weight of a tonne and then they would have something new to market :)

Hell if they did that they could even start attracting some new customers or better still, get some loyal fans interested in one of their sports cars again

curtis265

6 seconds to 100? not that slow....

You're missing the point of this car. Marketable hybrid cars are new to the market, with only what, the prius and civic available? :S..

Anyway, my point is that this is something completely new to the market - it's a fuelmiser that makes 200hp... an insanely fast hybrid... a insanely fast marketable hybrid.

Exactly. 6 seconds is fine for this car. The big factor is going to be price. If manufacturers want to market hybrids then the best way to do so is combine them with decent performance. Even Mitsu might be going this way with the Evo XI

For 20kish its a different story sure. Zero change from 40k at best id say.

To me its frustrating because Honda could build a faster car that could tempt people away from wrx and evos etc but they dont do it nor do they seem interested in doing it.

This will be similar speed to the current civic type r only greener which is great, dont get me wrong, but personally id like to see something that would really stand out performance wise and on top of that if its green and all that then that is even better.

stock, modded or heavily modded the evo was always a better performance car =)

evo and gtr...now there's more of a comparison

but this is anothe subject for another thread, on another forum

Sorry, i meant that competing in a little rat race isn't going to get anybody anywhere...

You're not going to really get any revolutionary technology like that.

cheapdouchebag
02-03-2010, 09:04 PM
honda's generally imo have a different approach compared to subaru, nissan, holdens etc. thats what makes people on this site take pride in what they own even though they know its not the fastest.

at most times, honda's always one step ahead of everyone going in a different direction
take the asimo robot for example
and before that turning their f1 winning cars into a sports car like the nsx.
maybe the cr-z's opening the market into a new era in hothatch.

disagree with me all you want, but i still believe im right.

Yeah it's just the different outlook they have to ther other companies, that's all. Why compete when it's not going to lead to some kind of innovation award and mass sales of 'revolutionary technology'?

Before that happens we will try making our own petrol, then we may convert our cars to electric so we can have new classic.

I should start saving if I want to convert my FK2 to full electric when the time comes, i just love it too much

Even if a dc2r was ugly it wouldn't mean shit....with a dc2r it's all about performance and handling not how it looks...Tell me what the Crz has to offer other then it's 40k price tag

I'd rather be driving a 15 year old dc2r then a crz

Those of us who want to retain Honda's good times can always look into the LPG option. (and before someone says you can't use it in Honda's engines, they did build CNG engines for the US market)

Typical resale values are around 60%. That means that after three (3) years, they will be 60% of the new price.

What an ugly thing.... I see people driving this piece sh1t (THE BASE MODEL) not the TYPE R and I'm like........ WHY..........! The EF9's, EG5's, EK's was the best shapes. Then you've got your DC2's for pure performance and handling. Honda has really lost the plot here. fcking YUK - This thing is so ugly, I would want to slap the fools driving the base model and the fools thinking about buying the Type R!!!!

I'm only 21 and there's nothing to be 'enthused' about the new Hondas. Yes the accords are a NICE car, the civics are reliable and the crz is green but there is absolutely nothing exciting about driving one. Yeh a turbo spooling is a nice feeling.. but there's something about vtec and squeezing as much power out of that 4cyl n/a motor as you can. It's delicious.
