hey guys just need to ask you guys a thing.
when i turn my car on, (in neutral of course) it idles at around 500-250 RPM.
it sorta skips like a rotary ( bap, bap, bap) doesnt sound close to stalling but doesnt sound far from it.. i think its something electrical problem,??

SO its just the idle without any significant loss in power?

driving has no problem vtec is still strong, just like neutral is way to low, im sure its go to be around 700rpm, yeah once i press the accelerator the revs work perfect, just idle is real low

So there is no hesitation when you first press the accelerator from idle?

not at all, just letting the car sit there the idle is a t 250-400 and sorta skips like a rotary does on idle.

few questions;
does it idle low when your car is cold vs warm?
does it occur when you put your aircon on?
does it occur while turning the steering wheel?

when your car is warm and your still idling low even without using your A/C or power steering could be due to an alternator problem
or
IACV (idle air control valve) which ive heard is common in older model cars.
i would also check battery voltage and spark plugs.

i think the standard idle should be around 750rpm

does it idle low when your car is cold vs warm? not when i just start but once its had about 2 min on, it will do it.

does it occur when you put your aircon on? yeah it does

does it occur while turning the steering wheel? dont know but i will try tomorrow when going to college to find out.
i do think it could be the alternator but ill have a closer look tomorrow, thanks for the help

moving the steering wheel moves the revs to 750rpm

HA! so the revs increase when you turn the wheel... i wasn't expecting that.

check the things I listed before first.

When my mum put a deposit down for this old ford...I took the car to give it a bit of an inspection. First thing i checked was idle..car would idle "ok"..i turn the steering wheel and the idle races up and down..

**** that. no buy.

but staying on topic i duno what it could be...my idle on my 99 vtir seems a little bit low too..with AC on yes...with a cold start yes..but last night the weather was nice and cool and it was fine but it still did it once or twice..

it would especially happen when im idling in neutral..and i give the engine a bit of a rev..and when the needle drops..it would go lower than 750..to about 300-500 first..then level out at 750..then it might drop a bit....then level..etc.
Not a big problem but pissing me off none the less..

try to clean up the throttle body and the IACV first, it is easy and direct way to check for the idle, also inspect all your vaccum line see if there is any leak.
