View Full Version : MY bagged accord

Bought my accord about 12 months ago for three tenths of **** all. Had cans installed, retrimmed interior in red leather and suede done by brads custom trim. and 18" dolce rims. but it was a mess. had been unreg'd for a long tiem before i got it, and the body is in need of some work, the cans werent bolted in at the top, they were just flopping around, valves were sticking, airlines were a mess, wiring was worse. but it was a factory manual with factory ele. sunroof which was rare in these. andf its got a few other bits like single peice angle eye HID headlights, and fancy carbon look tail lights amoung other things.

Ive always loved minitrucks, so i recently got motivated (After my other car got defected off the road) to tidy up this. I put 2 new valves in it, and am about to do the other two (cleaned them all out but they still leak a little so gunna replace them too). Tidied up all teh wiring for the switches and compressor (still needs some more tidying though has come a long way). Cut the airlines of (Square this time so they dont leak), and put 90degree conectors on teh valves, re run the lines so they didnt kink and get jammed like they were. remounted the compressor (temporarily), rewired the plugs for teh switch box (one plug in console and another in the boot, with the switch box on a 2m cable).

Ive made up some bushes and re mounted teh rear cans, fronts are ok for now but im goign to do them aswell in the not too distant future)

Pulled the the front end off and have cleaned all the shit out from under and around the car etc. (spider webs, gras and shit from being laying around for so long)

And tHE best bit is the car only owes me $2500 including purchase price ;) im stoked so far.

Ive still got a few things to do, including:-
-figure out some more wiring for the digital display and compressor (anyone in newcastle area wanna help for cash or booze?)
-Put the dash back in after i figure out the wiring.
-put compressor on a switch (which has to do with what i cant figure out abotu the wiring lol)
-put a clutch in it, then give the car a full service of all fluids etc so its semi reliable again. haha
-do the other two valves and a few other bits and bobs to generally tidy it up including floor carpet.
-finally get the body straightened out so i can paint it myself (isnt DIY the truy minitruckin way?) lol

My aim is to have an american lowrider theme i think, with pastel paint, and wire wheels. keep it simple but effective.

anyone willing to lend a hand please speak up, i cant do it myself. :D

i like the plans you have for it, As for how it sits now,,,not a fan unfortunatly lol dont like the head or tail lights or the rims :p might i suggest when u get it painted etc, go for the really clean looking OEM head and tail lights? will look super clean

wang_comander
01-03-2010, 05:42 PM
i bought it with the head and tail lights, and to be honest, i like them.

they arent gay chrome taillights like every lancer, barina, and suzuki cino has, and the headlights are single piece angle eyes, with HID's, so i really like them.. ive currently got the front end off cos as you can see the headlights didnt quite line up properly, so im fixing that issue as we speak.

rims are ok, but will be getting replaced yes..

thanks for the comments :)

Factory manual and sunroof FTW!

That's what mine has (although mine is markedly different from yours!)

I like how it's sitting so low low low although it wouldn't be too practical driving it like that much.

lol. who cares if someone doesnt like my car, i built it for me, not them. if you see me driving close your eyes :) (PS, how the **** is this bogan? clearly you dont know the meaning of the word. its not a beat up old VN commodore with mismatched panels and missing hubaps?)

anyway, thanks guys. im heaps keen to get it finished aye. the door sils sit flat on teh ground front and back which is pretty cool. so yes, it goes low.

troy, i was stoked when i found out how rare manual sunroof was.. lol
lastly, slimx, i got given a spare can for my accord yesterday, should be getting a complete set if we find them (al brand new might i add), so ill be pullign mine out, plus im re running my airlines ith braided lines (for engineers cert), getting a new compressor and tank aswell, so ill virtually have a complete spare can set up minus switch box and guages, prolly by june/july if things go to plan. ill keep you in mine ;)

If this is the car i am thinking off, the old owner did the interior himself.

He had a good build thread on the old ozaccord with all of his progress.

Might be the guy your thinking of but.

and i might have the car mixed up with another one.

wang_comander
03-03-2010, 05:12 PM
trim was already done when i purchased it. done by brads custom trim out maitland way (berresfield possibly, cant remember to be honest)

the bloke that built this car, his name was joel, he worked for brads custom trim, and did the interior himself. He sold it many years ago to a friend of a friend of mine, and i bought it from him after being off the road for over 12 months. ive owned it for 12 months now, so the bloke that built this (joel) wouldnt have owned this for over 2 or 3 years now.

i was also under the impression that factory sunroof and factory manual were rare together. manual usually got now sun roof, and sunroof usually got auto? have i been mislead?

rims will be going once its back on the road. wont be a set of works though sorry, im trying to track down a set of 100 spoke wire wheels in gold.

thanks everyone else for the comments :) wasnt honestly expecting a big wrap from ozhonda, what with it not being stripped with buddy clubs and te37's under it. lol.

ps. i just got back from teh GF's grandads house, gave me a hammer and dolly set, spray gun, and big compressor he used to run his own workshop off, all for the pricey sum of $300. lol. once its straightened im ready to paint now that means

firstly, to the idiot who said "de-rice the car" because it has airbags and not adjustable coilovers, you are an idiot.

Reason- Why does it have to have coilover suspension and not airbags? Airbags are awesome, the go lower than any set of coilovers, make it look awesome and easier to get over speedhumps. How is this rice? Just because it doesnt have a good set of coilovers allowing better cornering and better ride quality why is this necessary? Can't he just modify his car to the way he likes it? why does it have to be coilovers, heaps of cars look awesome with bags, this included. Be defined mate, I like the airbags and it suits your theme.

I like the bags, I like the headlights, not fussed on tail lights but i think they work....the entire car is dark and thats the way it works well.

I hate the wheels- no offence but they are dinner plates and make the whole car look worse. I reckon Go with the black theme all through, maybe some black 5 spokes with a polished lip? 18s will do- don't listen to the idiot who reckons u need smaller wheels, its a bagged accord not a JDM teg going to wakefield every weekend.

Interior- Not a big fan of the red suede, but I think it definately needs some contrast. It's too red. I think spraying the door handle and door holder was a bad idea. I reckon you should take these out and respray them black or some other colour..just to break up the red (won't take long to do).

I like where your going with this, simple style is always a good concept. NOT EVERY HONDA NEEDS TO BE ABOUT JDM AND TRACK DAYS. its good to see a change from JDM, i'm getting a bit sick of it....most of it's rice anyways.

wang_comander
04-03-2010, 07:11 PM
Hahaha that's gold. Thanks for that bro. I couldn't agree more but i don't let shit like other peoples comments get to me. Lol. Thanks though bro.

The interior works really really well in actually fact. I'll have to get more pics, cos the dash top is black, seats are factory (for now) and the floor is black so it's broken up alot. But some of the red plastics you mentioned will probably get sprayed to match the car when I paint it, depending on what colour I decide to go in the end.

Rims again were on the car when I got it, but I don't mind them. However will be going when I paint it. Thanks for the comments though. Should have some more bigger updates pretty soon.

Xoxo. Gossip girl.

Yeah sounds good, keen to see the progress on this. If u haven't joined ozaccord you should mate, better specific cd5 community there, with alot more knowledge.

havent really had much time to work on this lately. still go the front end off it. might get motivated to put it all back on during the weekend before i go to sydney sat.

been trying to figure out the wiring for the display, but im at the stage where im gunna strip the car out interior wise, and rewire it all from scatch again. atleast then i know its done right, and i can tidy it all up alot more aswell.

clutch will be done early april, then ill be speaking with an engineer about what it needs for a cert. then blue slip time :D :D

LOVE the set up bro, would kill for a set of cans for my accord.
pretty much have to agree with what everyon else is genereally saying like:
rank wheels and taillights (i purchased my car with the same set but tinted them, so i cant judge you haha).

but yeah if your stoked with it bro, who gives a sh!t what the others are saying.

also interested in how much the can kit set you back and stuff like instillation and engineering etc

wang_comander
16-03-2010, 06:49 PM
thanks boss

the cans were in the car when i got it but were virtually rooted. i honestly couldnt tell you how much a setup the same as mine would be, but id hazard a guess based on my recent research youd be looking at around 4-5k drive in drive out if you got the "lesser" options such as 3/8" valves, smaller compressor, simpler switch setup and normal guages etc.

do it yourself, and design your own kit, and shop around, i cant see why you couldnt get a very decent set up running fir around 3k or so.

im looking to getmyself established, doing custom work of all kinds (looking to open my own workshop within 12-24 months fulltime) so if you or anyone else wants any help or anything to do with this, id be more than happy to help out as much as possible.

also about to buy a mig welder over the next week, so body work is nearly ready to begin :)

I finally got my ass into gear and got all the wiring finished. Switch box is all done, hooked up to the handbrake with another overide switch so I can use it all the time (for rego/engineers reason). Also got the compressor all wired up again. Properly this time. Got pressure switch controlling it, but again got an overide switch to leave it on flat out if I'm using the bags heaps.

Put all the rims back on, cleaned it up a little. Just needs a clutch and fix the slow leaks and she's ready for rego. Hopefully I can get it done without engineering it just yet, If not I'll have to get a new tank, which mean I'll get 2 new compressors, which means I'll get all new valves and braided lines. Either way it's not far off being done.

WOW, (i know im digging up an old thread but did a google search and it popped up)... This is my old accord, that i built.

To be honest seeing the pics you posted breaks my heart, the guy i sold it to was a complete tool and im not surprised that everything in it is broken or dodged up to suit his shitty ways!

Firstly, my name is Josh (not Joel as thought) and yeah i did the trim my self at my old work. Although the trim isn't finished what was done like the doors, roof and parcel tray etc did cost allot of money AND took allot of hours to create. A for the headlights and tail lights, they were a mission to track down as i didn't want chrome shitty things and the OEM headlights were frosted crap that were good for nothing! The rims, well i sort of liked them and they aren't exactly what i was after but about 3 months after i put them on they bought out the same rims in black, and i wanted them bad but never bothered spending more money when i just bought those ones. The car was a rocket and with the CAI fitted as well as the new catback exhaust it certainly got along.

Just for old times sake here are some pics of the accord before it was trashed (why would you spend $17500 on a car and trash it is beyond me!)

This is what it was when i got it, albeit i had removed the headlight/bonnet protectors, oversize rear view mirror, mudflaps and a few other things... And given it a tub and a polish

http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/jpathy/IMG_0233.jpg
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/jpathy/IMG_0234.jpg

I really didnt like the standard trim and we had some suede laying around from a falcon trim so when i fibreglassed the screen in for the bags i had to trim it and did the door inserts while i was at it
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/jpathy/IMG_0264.jpg
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/jpathy/IMG_0265.jpg

this car is currently on stock alloys, which im going to be power coating black and white walling the tyres untill i find a new set of rims i fancy. as for the headlights, i couldnt find a set of factory items anywhere, and they were gunna cost me like 500 for brand new aftermarket items. so i left these in, and im getting the whole front end straightened out again perfect (My beother isnow a panel beater and spray painter so things will be moving along a bit quicker now.)

Funny you say that. No longer than 5 minutes ago I kist pulled the instrument cluster apart. They are moon face gushes in the factory instrument cluster. I know a guy that used to male white faced guages for various cars through his business. Not sire about the moonface items though.

When I had these apart today I re ran the wiring for the lighting on the guages. Made it a bit neater behind there. I like making things look as factory as possible when I do any kind of work.

As for the guages, they are (as mentioned above) moon face dials that go in the existing housing. Bought them off ebay years ago and couldn't tell you where i got them from now.

I got your pm, will sms you when i get a chance about it.

Would love to see her in all its glory again, as those pictures show...it certainly was a nice, tidy head turner in its day!

This is for the model before the CD5. Aren't they the same? (i.e. compatible?)

The plates on rollex are now BIG187. And yes. It's bagged again. I actually just re did the bags for him in it. Rewired the valves and compressor. Fixed all the air leaks. Rebuilt the valves and replaced one new fittings and shit.

What is BIG187 supposed to mean?

The same guy bagged both cars, he is well respected in the mini truck game and does allot of bag and metal fab work. The accord was played with by Andrew (so i have been told) so that would explain why everything was rough.

Atleast the accord 3 wheels and the Lexus doesn't...

Yep. I believe you also know my mate juzzy. Justin milner. He had accord the same. Bagged to. Bagged by the sane bloke if I'm not mistaken. I can't quite recall the name of the bloke, he owns custom wheel and tyre. Used to work at bowers for a bit. I knew him forca bit too as two good mates were the mechanic at bowers. He was telling me all about the car too.

Oh and 187 is the police radio call sign for homicide. Like COP 187 = cop killer lol.

Oh and the big part, was relating to the bloke Jason bought it off. His Mack name or someshit.

Nope, dont know your mate.

As for Custom wheel and tyre, that was Dave. He definately didn't bag my accord or the lexus. They were bagged by a guy by the name of Scott at fnatic fabrications.

The number plates, ehh as long as he is happy with them.

And what is a Mack name? My mate Adz (Adam) was the one who did that lexus, his was bagged a week after mine and he bought the lexus a week before i bought the accord. So if that's who you mate bought it off, i don't know how you would come up with BIG out of Adz.

Oh well it seems I've Been fed some lies then

and Mack name is a typo. Sposed to say Nick name. Jason bought it of sone bloke that didn't own it long. And I was told he bought it off another bloke that didn't own it long. Seems it's been through a few hands. Jase has only owned it a few months. But then again my sources could once again be unreliable.

Ps got this thing re regoed on Saturday. Put the bags back into it today. Cleaned it all up a bit more. It's all ready to roll except I split the RHF air line just near the bag. Getting new airline tommorrow and gunna replace it. Looks gangsta slammed on the stickies. Gunna get them white walled. Lol I'll put picks up maybe tommorrow.

The headlights are okay, the taillights are crap, and the stance is stupid. The interior looks alright, though. How much did you get trimmed, and for how much?

Good luck with the build.
