do u realise a distinct crossover in sound when hitting the vtec mark
5500rpm?
take a few snaps of the engine bay to show us.
at worst, maybe its the engine if vtec does exist in that car

Why would you expect to hear vtec?
Its only the engine changing cam lobes, and there is not necessarily any different noise. I certainly don't hear anything much different until I get above 6000 rpm, and the vtec change was back at 4400 rpm.

If you really want to make sure, put a small indicator light across the vtec solenoid to show when the solenoid kicks in. You need a direct monitor on the working parts, and not your ears or butt-dyno.

It's when the seconday's kick in at 6,800 or so,that's when U should 'feel it'.VTec is @ 5,500 or so.

Yep same shit.
You don't hear the cross over in VTiR motors as much compared to the b16a\b18c7

In Luke's (webby_roller) b18c2,I can feel it slightly when Vtec hits BUT it 'Kicks' at 6,800rpm when the seconday's kick in.

I think the 'secondary's' is something to do with the Intake Manifold design?

Yeah it's noice!

When he gets the cams and tuned with Hondata,it should be a bit more aggressive too!

Can't believe he only paid $4000 for it! Best score EVA!

The gearbox feels incredible,like new!!

if you dont have a cold air intake or short ram intake (IE pod filter etc) try taking the lid off the airbox to hear it better

otherwise you should hear a slight change in around 4500-5000 thats the cam lobe changing over than the intake runners open at 6800 and it should scream all the way to redline

might be the other way around its been awhile since the death of my Dc2 VTIR ... but either way i loved the vtec on that thing =)

its always gona be louder on the b16a and b18c tho

another thing is that vtec needs oil pressure to work ... if the car is cold it will juss fizz and u will get no vtec joy ... this isnt good for the car either ... make sure u drive it for 15min and check the temp gauge is half way up before trying to go on a good run ... also make sure the oil and coolant lvls are right (i use Honda Coolant / Distilled water in mine)

try putting some Honda FEO 10w30 or Castrol Edge 5w30 in it as well ... good oil = good temps and pressure

take a snap of ur engine bay for us and let us know how it goes =)
