Do you mean itd be a power loss down low from stock? Or from the other systems?

Generally you gain more power higher in the rpms with a CAI but gain in the lower rpms with a SRI (Short Ram)

i have one of these on my car, fits perfectly, only thing i changed was the pod filter, and put a k+n filter on it.. but yeh they are good, all the plugs go straight on and bolts down properly and nicely. sounds pretty sweet too

Doesnt it come with a K&N pod? I am interested in puchasing something like this HPS intake as imo the difference between this and an INJEN are probably not worth the price difference

The difference is quite negligible. You'll definitely feel more response after putting it in though compared to stock :)

Looks like the one you linked comes with a K&N pod filter. And also since it comes in 2 pieces, you can convert into an SRI if you wanted to.

There is certainly a drop in torque below 3000 rpm as shown in the injen dyno graph:
Link to Injen
http://www.injen.com/galleries/products/SP1431_charts.jpg

But the HPS dyno graph don't go below 3000 rpm

I reckon go with Injen
-proven track record
-well make
-better resale value
-HPS not that much cheaper

You lose power down low with an aftermarket intake because of the bigger piping

There's generally 4 types of intakes only (Excluding ITBs):

1. CAI outside engine bay - AEM, Injen, Fujita etc - :thumbsup:Top end :thumbdwn: Worse than stock bottom end, chance (minimal) of hydro-locking engine
2. Short ram intake (no heatshield) - AEM, Injen, Fujita etc  Top and reasonable bottom end :thumbdwn: Loss of power from heatsoak, not legal for street use
3. Short ram intake (with heatshield) - Gruppe M, J's racing etc  Same as above with less heatsoak issues
4. Airbox intake - Comptech, Mugen etc  Best response and power for low to mid end :thumbdwn: Not as much peak HP as other options.

Also keep in mind that 1-3 are also much louder than 4. Which can be both a good and bad thing depending on how you look at it.

I've just been looking at these two unbranded cheapo pipes, and would just like to hear some general feedback about them. I'm liking the first one as you have the option to make it a short/long ram, however the second one looks like a better product. Obviously what comes with buying an unbranded pipe like this is fitment issues, so just wondering if anyone out there has purchased a similar product before.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

i have the HPS, and it works like a ripper, and as for resale i wouldnt sell my car with it fitted, obviously is going to retract its value and restrict the buying market, older people generally are not going to be interested in performance gains, if they were are they wouldnt be looking at second hand euros

CAI wont really give u low end , a header will be more effective at that , and maybe a comptech icebox setup

Pretty sure you're good to go with that one, the short piece is used for short ram :)

And it's not exactly cop friendly....
